Winter Olympics (for those that like them)

All the experts are predicting this could be the most successful Winter Olympics for GB - they reckon we could beat the previous best of 5 medals (2014 and 2018) with up to 8 medals being won. We have a number of world number 1s and current World Champions/X-Games champions so could be a good games for us.

I’m looking forward to it, I prefer the Winter games way more than the summer ones.

Should be able to watch a lot more of it than I originally thought due to a change in work schedule.

Yea, I'd seen this too.

Not bad for an island where it always rains haha

The skiing, slalom and downhill will be a good watch ,also the Bob and skeleton along with the luge will also be on my watching radar .but for me I like the speed skating, always a tumble or two on the short track version.

Ice hockey for me. I skated a bit in my teens, 20’s & 30’s but only tried ice hockey once. I thought I was reasonably competent until I tried ice hockey. Those guys are unbelievably good.

Yea, I do like these newer events (some of them at least) - as they tend to add quite a bit of excitement.

but you can't beat some world class down hill skiing.

I saw yesterday that despite completely tearing her ACL last week, Lindsey Vonn is going to attempt to compete 😮 Absolute madness. I worry about skiing when my legs are tired, let alone when my knee's been completely destroyed.

No idea how she will ski with a ruptured ACL - seems mental

It does seem a bit ambitious, but this is almost certainly her last Olympics, so it's understandable that she wants to give it a go.
If you have strong enough leg muscles they can stabilise the knee. And I suspect Lindsey Vonn's leg muscles are about as strong as it's possible to get.

Also, how ruptured is ruptured? Sounds a bit similar to Lucy Bronze and her broken leg during last years Euros - was actually 'just' a stress fracture.

It seems it’s a “complete”’rupture

Looks like the knee will be a brace and then as Clive says it’s relying on the muscle strength
