Nice write up for Lottie Woad.

Surely LEAP access is the be all. Mind you a big step up once she turns pro and while she is dominating at the moment, hard to be driven and focused if she starts misses cuts. Rose said much the same way back in the day although he didn't do too badly in the end
It absolutely is. She needs four points to get the 20 LEAP points required. If she gets them before 1st July (now v difficult as an ANWA win would have given her 2pts, nothing for 2nd or 3rd) she will probably defer turning pro until after 1st July as that gets her into the LPGA tour for rest of this season and all of next. If she doesn’t get them by 1st July but gets them later this season then she gets entry into next seasons LPGA. And then of course the aim would be to try stay on it….and that’s quite another kettle of fish.

But that’s looking way too far ahead…first get the pts…and for that next up for her is the LPGA US Women’s Open end May (Erin Hills, Wi).

How many points up for grab?

How many points up for grab?
Depends how many LPGA and major amateur events she plays - then the team comps and awards. At the moment she’s playing the Women’s Open and the US Women’s Open. Also possibly playing the Evian and the Irish Open but they are not LPGA so don’t count. Her management co will probably be ‘pushing’ her to other LPGA events as an attractive amateur proposition for their field.

I am not aware of her playing any of the main amateur comps, but of course she might. Issue she’ll have is the conflict these events have with her playing college comps to accumulate points for her WAGR ranking as #1 end August or thenabouts (once the major pro and amateur events are completed) gets her the McCormack medal. Her college is very competitive and successive behind likes of Stanford, so may well be reluctant or refuse to release her for non-college amateur events.

Lottie has had her invitation to play in the Chevron Championship next week confirmed. The Chevron is first major of the year on the LPGA tour.

For those interested...Lottie requires 4 pts to reach the 20 she needs to be exempt from LPGA tour qualification. Making the cut in a LPGA Major is 1pt; making top 25 is 2. So getting this invite is great news. An Am making the cut in a LPGA major is never going to be easy - but she's a very capable young lady...🏌️‍♀️👍

Plenty of time to tick off the other pints isn't there

For those interested...Lottie is playing in the Chevron (first LPGA pro tournament of the year) starting tomorrow. Sky Sports Golf broadcasting live from 4pm tomorrow.

I'll be watching. 👍
Lottie tee time is 18:37 BST with Georgia Hall and Albane Valenzuela - feels a good group for her as she has met Hall quite a few times (may well have played with her before) and she played with Valenzuela one of her Open rounds at the OC last year.

I’ll be watching with interest how a few other Ams get on - Carla Escuder (this year’s ANWA winner couple of weeks back); Jasmine Koo (current World Ranking #5), and Asterix Talley (2nd in ANWA and a 16yr old shooting star with incredible potential).

Thanks for the info. I'll miss the early holes as I'm out for a meal tonight, but it'll be on as soon as I get back. 👍

Thought you were a superfan - she is +3 :sneaky:
Ah...on the late coverage she was +3 playing her last hole then didn't get down in two out of a bunker. I thought it was a par 4...and I missed her updated score. Well that's still tough but not quite sooo tough.

Must now go any check the scores myself... (y)

Koo at -2 is VG as is Escuder at E. But Asterix Talley is +6. Just goes to show.

Anyway...Lottie's three ball off 1st tee at 07:37 (13:37 BST) so might get a bit of coverage from 13:45 on Sky.
I watched the late coverage last night but very disappointed with the lack of actual golf being shown. I didn't see Lottie once but lots and lots of the American, whose name escapes me, and is supposed to be retired and also 3over!
Another fave of mine In Gee Chun who was 3 under and saw her putt out once!
I know lots of us moan about lack of actually seeing them play. It also irks when the commentator says, live coverage starts now and then switch to the studio for endless natter! Show the bloody golf!
Sorry, rant over.

Yup - lots of coverage of Lexi Thompson...and note that more than once they cut away from a S Korean going through their shot prep and chatting with their caddy. Sooo slow.

And yet still most coverage of Lexi Thompson!
I watched the first hour or so and apart from Lexi didn't see anyone driving just a putting fest! Also In - Gee Chun was 4under and again, didn't see her once.
I gave up in the end and watched the Chase! 😩
