NEW LOOK GM website launches at 2.30pm today

To be honest, I didn't think much of the GM site before this change, so you'd struggle to make it worse, in my eyes. In saying that, I really like the new layout. It's much cleaner and there seems to be a lot more content.

Thumbs up from me

Sorry to be a slight dissenter, but don't like the white background, and everything seems to be far too LARGE.
My first resaction was the same as you- too large.

I did tweak bit via Cltrl+ to alter size, but it will reformat to make the print quite large, but when I tried to reduce print size (to get more on the screen) it only goes so far, then the side bars start coming in.
Can you alter this option for those of use of us with 20/20 vision?

To be brutally honest i think it looks awful - absolutely no thought in the design. Having looked through the source code it seems that you've used a theme called 'keystone-theme'. For a huge company such as Golf Monthly i'm a little disappointed you haven't had a custom theme created for you by a design agency. It looks like this has been design on an A4 piece of paper. Just take one look at the footer and it looks as if it was designed 30 years ago.

I always log in via the main website - not straight to the forum.

With the old page and set up there was rarely anything that kept me there, the rolling stories were accessable from the forum main page also so didn't stop me clicking straight through - I had felt it needed refreshing for some time.

The new site looks a clean easy to naviagte layout - lots of interest and topics. Will take a look on my tablet later to see how it stacks up on there also but first impression is that it is a big improvement.

Come on, don't hold back, tell them what you really think ;)

I think it must be the trend nowadays for very busy pages as the BBC sport pages are like that now. Does my head in. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/

I am sure some survey has found it keeps people on the page for longer, but to me I just think life's too short to scroll/look through everything to find anything I want, so I don't bother.

Yeh i agree on the trend front, i hope it passes by soon. i think there is a fine line between professional/clean and looking like its just been slung on a page.

That said i seem to be in a minority so they must have done something right:thup:

The theme was custom made for all IPC Media titles, meaning that all the titles, including Golf Monthly will be able to add the best tool and widgets onto their website as they are continued to be developed.

As for the design, we realise that we can't please everyone.
