Got two new cats from battersea today. A big long haired ginger Tom, who is 3, and currently hiding in the washing machine, and a black female aged two, who is hiding under the bath. I would post photos, but it's not easy! Hopefully they will adjust pretty quickly, and come out of hiding. Then some doors are going to have to be closed.

I must find a panel for the front of the bath though. Need to pull my finger out.

Sweet Mate, knew you said a few weeks ago that "Murph" wasn't a well puss
Is he still here or has he departed to the great whiskers bowl in the sky?

No, sadly he had to be put to sleep a week last Monday. He had dropped from 5kg to less than 2, and he had stopped having fun.

So, new apprentices, who have a lot of work to do to shape up!

I knocked on my neighbors door the other day. "I'm sorry pal but I've just hit your cat" I told him. "Oh no, is it alright"? he said.
"I doubt it mate" I answered " My cricket bat broke in two"!

So sorry to hear about your pal Murph but you knew that the end was near - very sad though.

When I got my two rescue cats they found the gap behind the fridge and spent the first night there. Trying to coax them out, all I could see was 4 glinting eyes and all I could hear was them hissing at me - they were only babes too! I recall the feeling of victory when I finally heard one of them purr. Takes patience but worth it for sure. Enjoy...

Yeah, good to hear you've got not 1 but 2 new moggy's.

Hope they settle in quickly, be prepared for a few nervous accidents, just lots of fuss and the trust soon comes.

Black one is still under the bath. Fine , at least I know where she is.

Ginger one is AWOL. No idea. All doors, windows, etc closed. Have searched the house, top to bottom, no sign. I'm sure he will turn up, and when he does, he'll be gated in the tv room until he's more settled. Ditto for the one under the bath.

Give them time mate, they'll come round when they get used to a new environment and new owners/smells. They will have had a long hard day. I'm sure they will be snuggling down on your knee before boxing day.

Are you sure it is not just your natural charm they are hiding from ?:mmm:

Pleased to hear you have got two new cats Chris. Our adopted one, called Monty:eek:, has taken over the house, and at the moment is demanding his tea. He will then be settling down on a lap to watch Strictly. I did spot him earlier admiring my swing in the garden, or was it the bird table he had his eye on.:mmm:

You could be right.

The ginger has reappeared. In the utility room. Where only an hour ago I mover the washing machine, opened every cupboard, moved every thing, and he was no where to be seen. Ginger fur is clearly very effective camouflage.

Just need to extract the black one from the bath room, and we are sorted.

When we had our first cat - 20 odd years ago - from the Cat Protection League, it was delivered to us as they wanted to make sure we were fit an proper owners for a cat. She was brought the 5 miles in a cat box on the back of a moped. She immediately went and hid in the back of the central heating boiler. Good job it was summer.

Both are now confined to the kitchen and dining room. Where we are. We have cats circulating at head height. They can stay here for a few days til they get used to us. Ginger is HUGE. Big mog. The black one is normal sized, but has very thick fur. A bit of Persian in there possibly. Happily sat on the sofa in the kitchen. Good times.
