I use video quite a lot in my teaching and sometimes I transfer the swings onto DVD. I like to use my DVD recorder for this as I find it easy to use.
Correction....used to use my DVD...
So, I'm now in the market for a new dvd recorder.

Someone on ebay is selling one which looks ideal, even comes with 160GB hard drive Perfick.
Until I got to the line which read

'This is from a house clearance and it hasn't been tested on a tv although it powers up when plugged in to the mains'.

I emailed the seller to ask if it was possible to test it and got the reply
'I haven't got time to test everything'
This item comes with a 'No returns policy'

Thanks, but I'm out
The daft thing is it's had 7 bids on it already
Why would someone not spend 2 mins hooking up a tv and testing the thing (unless of course he had and it didn't work)

So, the hunt goes on :(

Its just unreal bob, I seem to come across something like this every few days. People who you want to spend money with who just don`t make time to earn that money. He could be demanding alot more money if he know it worked. People are just stupid when it comes to customer services.

That quote smells extremely fishy. House clearance, to me reads - robbed, Hasn't been tested, to me reads - I don't want to get my finger prints on it, It powers up when plugged in, to me reads - that's how I found it in the house I robbed it from.

Call me a cynic, but if something looks to good to be true it probably is and as for the 7 people who have bid, stupid is and stupid does

I wouldn't touch this with someone elses money.
I haven't got the time to test it, sounds more like I've tested it and sod all happened so I'm shifting it for what I can get for it.

For something as important as that Bob to help in your profession, buy new, it's a business expense plus you have warranty and a 'proper' person to deal with. Shop around there are some excellent deals around for new.

P.s I saw a putter on eBay last week advertised as NEW, in the blurb though he said he had used it for a few rounds and it had a dent on the back!!!! Scary thing is people still bid on it, they genuinely see it as the WON something!

I probably will in the end.
It was just the guys attitude I couldn't believe.
It went for £41 in the end (not from me I hasten to add)

I do, but was hoping to get a hard drive DVD
The laptop gets a bit full when it gets too many swings on it

Why dont you get an external hard drive for your laptop, you can get ones that run off the power of the laptop or off the mains and you can get a terrabyte for about £50 thats what i did when my laptop got full and is perfect

People don't read things properly... I remember when the PS3 came out some chap sold the box on eBay for £500.

I remember this too http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/23/ebay-ps3-scam-of-the-day-hot_ps3s-hotmail-com-sold-for-890/

Bob what i meant was write the files to the DVD using the laptop. Does your laptop have a DVD writer built into it? It's quite common with modern laptops.

Then you can just keep the DVD open and write the files across as data and update your students copy of the DVD every time they have a lesson. No need for a new DVD every time.

If you want a copy of all the swings just buy a external hard drive cheaply enough then you can both have a copy.

If you leave the DVD recording session open though does this not cause issues playing back on some standalone DVD players? I know that I can't use multisession record DVD's on my Toshiba DVD player so have to finalise and close the session in order that I can.

What i would like is one box that will hold all my stuff.
So, music, films, swings etc that I can watch on my tv.
Using a dvd recorder with a hard drive seems the answer.
But the point of the thread was the guy want even trying to help himself sell it, or as some have said, it was nicked.
