I am a returning golfer with a young family so I am looking a club where I can get out early at weekends (isn't everyone!) and after work in the summer.

I have been nomading around Hartford, High Legh and Portal Courses. I am very close to Sandiway and Vale Royal Abbey but the former is out of price range for my limited hours and I believe VRA is full.

Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on Pryors Hayes, Portal as a members course with it being a hotel too (too busy in summer) or Antrobus/Hey rose?

Obviously any other suggestions very gratefully received. I'm new to the area so finding somewhere with like minded players and a flexible booking system are key!

Cheers

I used to know a guy that played at pryors hayes, and have played it twice. From what I remember it's a nice course. Nice clubhouse as well.

Thanks, that's good to know.

One thing that has out me off is a 4 week booking window. I've not been a member before but wanted some flexibility on when I'm playing, but that may be something that has to give..

I’ve played the Portal courses, and used the academy several times. Nice layout but a bit soggy in winter. I would hazard a guess most clubs in that area hold water a wee bit.
