Never Stop Believing

Well done on getting to single figures but I am confused has it been achieved by a penalty score on EG?

What did you actually shoot on Saturday would it have made you single figures?

I’d say below 0.5 you’re off scratch. Above 0.5 and you’re off 1
I asked this question a week or so ago, thinking along the same lines.
There is now an official description of a "Scratch golfer", it's someone off 0.0.

Congrats Martin. What does the asterix mean, I havent ever seen that

The asterisk is a penalty score. The OP explained that the card has not been attested, in this case the score is an outlier with a very low differential which has a big impact on HI.

According to EG, the committee has 3 options based on why they think the score has not been attested:

- Non-valid reason (e.g. memory or not realising a score had to be returned in such situations as injury, failing light, dangerous weather etc.): A score equivalent to the current Handicap Index should be submitted to the WHS Platform (i.e. an Adjusted Gross Score which would be equivalent to the Course Rating + Course Handicap).

- Possible attempt to keep handicap low: A score equivalent to the Adjusted Gross Score of the highest return in the last 20 scores should be submitted to the WHS Platform.

- Possible attempt to build a handicap: A score equivalent to the Adjusted Gross Score of the lowest return in the last 20 scores should be submitted to the WHS Platform.

It can also show in your record when there are some holes closed and the system gives you expected score

See below

We had 3 holes closed

We had 2 holes shut at weekend and I was my official handicap was 9 but the roll up had me off 7 and I was +2 gross for the 16 holes played (40 points off 7 as we give all players 2 points per hole for the holes not played to keep it fair to everyone and still came 2nd in the roll up). Previous 2 rounds were 79 and 78 on full course so playing well. Knew the knockers would knock so see you when I have something else needs knocking down

Well done Homer. 👏

I was thinking I hadn't seen you post of here in a while.
You were obviously busy working on your game.

Congrats. Keep it going 😀

Sadly with too many people arguing to the nth degree on any subject and the trolls on a constant knocking campaign I've decided to post on an as and when (except the footie prediction league) as it was/is doing no good for my mental well being. Given my day to day job in ICU is has become too toxic a place to stay around and keep my mental health above water and I don't want to go back to where I was post covid. I can't do that climb back up again and it wouldn't be fair on my wife to get that bad again. There are only a few that fit into the roles but the minority has definitely spoilt it for this forum member

Congratulations on your achievement, clearly the result of hard work and dedication. I was single figures about 7 years ago, now off 18.7 due to the ageing process combined with the onset of cervical myelopathy which has badly affected my legs and feet. I'm going to investigate the Eureka technique to see if it might help a little, as I am extremely stiff and have poor balance. My best drive goes about 150 yards. Again, well done!

It’s a shame some people can’t keep their opinions to themselves. Will be a shame if you don’t hang around but it’s understandable.

Well done on your achievement, brilliant work.
