Golf clubs near South East London

Langley is suffering big time at present apparently, just not draining.
TBH, many courses that haven't had drainage issues are now because of the quantity of rain falling in such short time frames.
I think it's becoming difficult to go solely on historical playing abilities when choosing a course now.

Hi All,

Just come off the phone with Chislehurst Golf Club (my local where my brother is a member) to be told that there's a 10 year waiting list!
I've been playing for a couple years now but never had a membership and would love to get one after missing out on it last summer. I'm 21 and a student but would love to go to a club where the course isn't constantly mashed up like it is where I play as a guest with my friends now at the local public course.

If anyone has any recommendations, I'm right on the border of Kent and Bromley but ideally don't want to venture too far! Sundridge Park is a good one but pretty sure my HCP isn't low enough to qualify there (because I don't get to play enough golf as I am not a member anywhere...)

All help is greatly appreciated!
Hi Will, thanks for posting on here. Having played Chislehurst, Royal Blackheath and Sundridge Park (along with Birchwood, which you may want to have a look at an alternative), I eventually joined Sundridge Park (2x18 holes) as a full time member (~1.5Y wait and a fairly robust selection process). Great atmosphere with a very active playing and social calendar.

As luck would have it, I recently moved to Wimbledon Park, so actually looking for a new club myself, so there is a fairly regular, if not a significant “churn” of members, although most have been there for many years. Great practice facilities (big driving range & pitching area), so in my experience (having also been a member at Westerham GC before that), it’s hands down the best golf club in SE. If it wasn’t for what is now a 1h15min drive each way, I’d be keeping my card there indefinitely.

If your golf is rusty, then there is an Associate Membership, which may be a good way in. Email the office at golf.manager@spgc.co.uk and I’m sure they’ll be happy to show you around.
