Watching the news and the Manchester councils are on about cutting 2000 jobs, are they right?Obviously thet have got to try and balance the books, but is this the right way to go about it.Do we need as many road sweepers as we have got,to me they seem lazy and could work a lot harder. This may seem harsh, but i play most saturdays with one at my course,he starts work at 4.30 gets paid for 6 hours, however hes on the course for 7.45,and every week i tell him what a lazy sod he is,and we are paying his wages, bloody scandalous. My regular playing partner is the laziest sod out, claiming all the benefits available to man,and claims he cant do most jobs because of a bad back, but can swing a club at 100 miles an hour.Major rant im so angry.

NHS trust in Leeds took the decision to freeze nurses increments through bands 1-6, they seem to have left their own alone.

Another lie "the NHS will be ring fenced".

To be honest, I would be more concerned about the billions wasted in Brussels than what the local public sector worker gets up to, it seems open day on them yet the MEP who are not turning up for work gets £300 a day + other benefits when they can't organise a piss up in a brewery.

The Chief Executiveof Manchester Council apparently earns considerably more than the Prime Minister and the Council have in excess of £100 million pounds in the bank! It will of course be the lollipop lady who gets the redundancy though!

Fair!! I don't think so:D

Huh, it's not just Manchester. It is the same here in Cheshire "East"as we are now known. The binmen fly in to the tip (where I work) sometimes before 11am job done! Fridady is the worst. All are done by 12.30! It's "job and knock"! I'd have them all back out picking up the litter that is all over the place in the town and surrounding areas. Which is another bl00dy pet hate of mine. Kids just drop their litter anywhere.

I agree with the sentiment but the reallity is that they would just hang the job out and finish their round at knocking off time

My brother-in-law works for our local council and he confirms there is huge inefficiency there - top heavy with managers and loads of wasteful admin. Judging by the posts here already we are certainly not getting good value for our council tax.

I also believe that 'top heavy with management' is the problem.

You can complain all you want about a 'bucket man' knocking off early but his wage will not break the bank HOWEVER his manager who should be ensuring that his staff works for the given hours, is probably on the golf course being wined and dined for the day by a rep!

The cuts must start at the top, too many managers earning too much money and, by the sound of it on here, not managing.

All managers must be exposed, so that their workload is transparent and only then will we have value for our money.

all councils are crap end of!!!

we have gone to fortnightly refuse collection... luckily I have access to wheelie bins at work cos 2 weeks of christmas rubbish was not going to fit in one little wheelie bin!!!

I am a single parent and so get a single occupancy discount on ctax (still pay 120 quid a month even with the discount), they sent a form out to everyone before christmas to send back with regards this. handed mine in person as they didnt supply an envelope due to cost savings. got a letter yesterday saying it hasnt been received, rang them up and they then said it has been received and the letter was sent in error to everyone!!!!!!!!!!! Nice
