The need for a drink! You don't require a pub to provide cheaper food if that is the public need.
Are you OK if existing restaurants in Service stations sell alcohol while also selling meals?

So are you ok with it being a Harvester or an Ask or Pizza Express ?
They already do - I would say they are a quite different drinking environment from a pub. And as they do what then the need for a pub?

What sort of environment do you expect in a Weatherspoons ? You do understand it's mainly for food these days - it's not a traditional pub - food is their main outlet these days - just like other pub restaurants as opposed to the red lion whose idea of food is crisps and peanuts.
Ask and Pizza Express both have areas where you can pop in and have a drink and a Harvester is no different to a Wetherspoon.
This Weatherspoons is just like the Brewers Fayre attached to Prem Inns - food outlets for the hotel.
Can you see the difference ?
Yes of course I can - but they are a pub and pubs attract different sorts of customers.
Look - I am simply asking what the NEED for a pub at a service station is when common sense to me says that you are likely to increase the likelihood of someone drinking to over the limit in a pub than in an existing motorway services restaurant selling bottled beer.
I am not saying any more than that.

OK - so clearly the pub does not change anything. How silly of me to imagine it might increase the likelihood of someone 'grabbing a couple' but I have been straightened out.
All this back and forth has left me a bit confused now. Can I still have a drink in a Wetherspoons if I have not driven there? Also can I have a meal in a Wetherspoons if it is not in a motorway service station?
Can I still get a drink in Wetherspoons @ 9 0'clock in the morning with my fry up with every other wino in town?
You can indeed
I dont see the issue, If I am driving I wont have one alcoholic drink let alone 2. I would be happy to sit there and have a decent cup of coffee at a reasonable price in pleasant surroundings.
You might not...but there are plenty of others who will - that's for me the concern.
That's relevant for every single establishment in the country that's sells alcohol
