I was told today that Lydd Golf Club - much maligned here has sold out.

ANNOUNCEMENT
May 12th, 2011
We are pleased to announce that with immediate effect, Pentland Golf has been invited to undertake the day to day running of the Lydd Golf Club, working with the existing team and reporting to the owners.

Our brief is to build on the standing of the Club and develop and improve on the service it provides to golfers and customers using the facility.

We are looking forward to this exciting time for Lydd Golf Club and putting in place the advancements we propose to bring and the benefits that everyone, staff and golfers, will gain from this association.

I bet that means the tattoo parlour goes!

Bulldoze it all and start again. Everything from the range to the putting green to the course itself was 2nd rate. The clubhouse wasn't great either save a conservatory that had ben tagged onto the dining room. Best thing was the brekkie and there wasn't even a sarnie on offer when we got back at 3.00pm on a Saturday afternoon. In conclusion - Crap hole

Pentland golf - seriously noooooo , I currently have pentland membership (etchinghill golf club) and do not want lydd to be a part of it. To think my membership will now go towards it :s
Why don't they improve their existing courses , Austen lodge = driving range

From what I know, the owner has been trying to sell it to Lydd airport for years - they were going to turn it into a car park!

Crap as it is Lydd golf course does take up a fair chunk of land. Surely Lydd airport doesn't get enough volume through to warrant a car park that big?

Not at the moment but there's plans for it to become an international airport.

Locally, most of the residents in the area dont want the airport because it would almost certainly mean that they won't get the new Dungeness 3 power station. So many people locally, work at the current power station, and feel that a runway flight path going over a nuclear power station is possibly a tad of a risk.

The golf club want the airport expansion so that they can build a hotel with golf facilities

My view is that the area is best left to sheep farming - where else would the local guys get their future brides?

I understand the airport and golf course are owned by the same person already.
