Losing weight/fitness thread

I need something to get me going, so giving intermittent fasting a go, only eating between 1200-2000, so far it’s been pretty easy, it’ll be interesting to see if it has any effect.

I’m also over the Christmas cold I had, so went out for a run on Saturday, planned to do an easy 5k but went to 6k - 31m for the 5k so will push that to try and get back to 25m

Really struggled today from yesterdays lunch being "big" (600 cals) bloated all night

But my boss gave me some peppermint tea bags and it really helped, feel great now

Home weights session due to the car not leaving the drive because of the snow. Ate well today so getting back into the groove again after Xmas.

Definitely gives you a great boost doing a workout of some sort.

Snow kept me at home, so two egg omelette with sliced tomato mid morning, early dinner of spag bol with turkey mince, two celery sticks with a slither of peanut butter as a snack and bed now because I'm starving 🤣

Homemade chicken soup to take to work tomorrow and then home for a healthy dinner.

Repeat two meals a day for 6 days, one cheat day, which is one naughty meal and Bob's your uncle to a steady weight loss.

Midway through week 2 down 7.6kg however this week is massive pinch of salt as since that steak salad Sunday which may have been too rich ive been having the side effects of lots of loo runs shall we say

Still down is down I guess

Watched the Glucose Goddess yesterday on Channel 5. She reckons she can cure lots of things by offering 10 ‘hacks’ to prevent glucose spikes. A lot of what she said made sense but the ‘hack’ about always eating carbs with clothes on made us laugh. She says you shouldn’t eat pasta, rice etc on their own and should have a sauce or something with them - who eats pasta on it own?

Monday I started back on weight loss with vigour (not much enthusiasm) however needs must
90 day period in order to lose, on average, 100grams of fat/weight per day for a loss target of 9kg (smidge less than 1 1/2 stone) I'll be weighing-in every morning (I find this helps me stay focused)

Expecting a brisk start losing up to a kilo per week then slowing as time goes on. No set diet to follow, lots of soups, omelettes and usual meat should do the trick along with cutting out crisps/biscuits etc

The secondary aim is to increase upper body fitness a bit and very importantly, flexibility (for golf swing of course) so I need to stop just walking 5km a day and add in other exercise

Felt less drained this morning but thought I'd contact the drs who supply the medicine. I was very impressed. Replied within 30 mins. Reassuring me that what I was experiencing was normal however if I carry on losing as much weight as this they would recommend staying on the lower dosage for longer rather than going up.

Got my first huel shake ready for lunch to try to save me cooking today

Going drs with one the kids later so I'll make sure they are aware I'm taking it aswell just incase

What's your carb intake like? If it's very low you could be in ketosis which will leave you feeling rubbish...

130g Monday. 91g yesterday

Tbh without going into detail lol it seems forcing my meal down Sunday lunch didn't do me good.. even tho was small and I didn't want to not finish the steak (only 8 Oz and just with salad that I didn't finish) it's why I got the side affects ie toilet

@PJ87 mate you're doing great and have a friend who underwent the same as you, alongside me doing it the old fashioned way, so some experience.

I'm from a poor upbringing, so I ate what's in front of me, as there sometimes wasn't anything else guaranteed - I'm closing in on 60 and still scoff - it's just something that stayed with me.

I am a believer in Slimming World and although I no longer attend, I learned what was good and bad to eat - you have to remember, it's no use these slimming clubs getting you slim quick - they would lose money, so everything in moderation.

Eat good stuff. Don't worry about carbs, just not fried - potatoes are fine, not chips. Pasta is fine, as is rice. Bread is bad. Dairy only in moderation - I'm lucky, as I don't do milk, butter, or cheese.

It's alright saying eat loads of fruit and veg, but if it's never been part of your diet, it's not easy. Do try and eat both though.

No snacks, just three good, reasonably sized meals and stop when full (see my first point about not having to finish).

I'm not into all the replacement shake b@llocks or protein bars personally. You just have to prepare and take time out to eat real food.

With good eating and the medication, you will smash it.

If it works for you, that's great, but I can't trust something (or give my money to them) that states that a Banana, when eaten whole is a free food, but as soon as you mash it with a fork and eat it, it becomes 'syns'. They've probably changed their tune recently due to the backlash on this example (and others) that they received.

I don't give them any money any more and if you read my post again, I do say they're all a scam in one form or another.

I just know they helped to get me on the right path, with 2.5 stone off during 2024 and I'm not massive.

General principles from them are the best about for me - eat normal (you can have a spud!).
