Losing weight/fitness thread

No takeaways/eating out in January completed. Won’t be in a rush to do it again as not sure if there’s been much benefit, other than saving a bit of money. Eating out/takeaway is a nice treat after a week at work and something I’m acutely aware I enjoy and look forward to (and can build into my eating plan). Was more of a can we do it type thing. Banquet Indian takeaway planned for tomorrow to mark it coming to an end.

Otherwise, I’ve been pleased with the exercise and eating routine throughout January. Really enjoying the weight sessions and cross trainer sessions. Averaged 15k steps a day. I’ve only done 2 swimming sessions, which I’m looking to improve on. But I did play badminton a couple of times, forgot what a decent workout that is.

Played twice this week - first time in decades. Singles on Tuesday with a friend - we were toast after an hour! Then played at a local club on Thursday which was doubles and less exhausting but definitely a good exercise session. Just need to get the tennis out of my badminton technique!

First time I’d played in a few years. Soon remembered how much finesse it requires. I’d imagine longer rallies in doubles?

That's true actually. Less court to cover but shuttle stays in play longer. I've really enjoyed it. Tennis was causing me pain in both heels (Haglunds Deformity) and I'm hoping badminton will be easier on them. The more shuffle type of movement seems less stress on them - so far! The club in the next village have two hour long open sessions a week - for the princely sum of £1 :-)

Loved playing badminton. Great for fitness. Get a right sweat on.

Only been to the gym once and played a round on Thursday. Might go at some point tomorrow. Had loads on so I'm ok with it. Eaten ok this work, mad work week as I've had 2 days off but happy with how I've changed my week dependant on what I knew I had on.

Proud my wife she said she started 6th January eating better and she's lost basically stone and half so only just behind me and I needed the jab. So as always shes amazing

Fallen off the bike, so to speak!! Don't know what it is but I haven't been to the gym since last week. Just not had that want to go. Was going after work today but ended up working a bit later, needed to take the dog out and then it was time to make tea. Feels like a I'll go tomorrow phase!!

Slower than your 7 miler, do you consciencly vary your mile pace? I'm only ever slower on my long runs and that's not really my choice.
I run with a jogging club on a Tuesday/ Thursday, I’d rather go faster but it’s a combined group with mixed abilities.
I led the second part of the run but was to fast, we also had a few stop / starts for various reasons.

Up early again this morning for gym work.

4 x Sets of each

Barbell Bench Press
Incline Barbell Bench Press

Arms were gone after that so will try and squeeze some tricep work in later.
