When do people on here eat their main meals? We have breakfast (weetabix/porridge) at about 07:00, lunch is between 12:00 and 13:00, depending on work meetings (salad, hummus, sandwiches or similar with apple and a banana) and then main cooked meal around 17:00. Only other thing is biscuit or sweet with a cup of tea at 19:00. No snacking during the day.

Sunday is slightly different with a cooked brunch about 09:30, cake or pudding around 14:00 and main meal at usual time.
We don't have set times, it varies from day to day and over the weekend. I'll eat breakfast by 9 if I'm in the office or early/later when wfh depending on calls/meetings. Similar for lunch and we tend to eat our tea at between 6-8 depending on when my wife gets home from work/tutoring. Weekends could be when and whenever really!

Dinner at 5pm, what the hell? I only finish work at 5. That's an insanely early time to eat dinner.

I guess I eat breakfast around 9:00, lunch around 12:30 to 13:00, and we end up having dinner at 20:00 after we've put the little one to bed more often than not. I would prefer to eat at 19:00 but we just can't seem to juggle sorting our dinner while starting the nighttime process for little one at the same time. We do occasionally manage it - but wife likes to be settled in for the night watching a TV program while we eat, which can't be done until after the little one's bed time really. And I can't seem to reason with her on that, so we eat late.

Another reason people eat too much - aimless eating in front of the TV and not realising you are full. I would also suggest that the big gap between lunch and dinner is contributing to the larger portions.

This is a thing for us anyway. I've never been able to work out when I'm 'full'. We are working on making smaller portion sizes, because whatever is on the plate, we eat.

We have mountains of chocolate that people gave us for Christmas as well. I have implemented a rule that I'm only allowed to eat two chocolates in one sitting.

Being in the broadcast 'sticks' there's a lot of UK tv programmes that pass us by, consequently its only last week we saw on YT a show called 'secret eaters' and watched several episodes over the first few series. I guess you're all familiar with it

Can't believe the ppl that claim they don't know why they're fat

Did they do follow up shows with ppl beyond the initial short diet period? (sometimes this was only 5 weeks)

Probably wouldn't be allowed now at it is considered to be fat shaming

I didn't realise it was quite so long ago, just would've been interesting to see if they stuck to the diet for 6, 12 months

(I only found last night another show called Benefits Street, there's a group of characters, (thought it was Eastenders for the midlands) #knowwhatimean

How's your mastication??
There's a lot of evidence that taking the time to chew and eat food helps the body to realise when it's full :
Eating "crunchy" food, rather than "baby" food is also helpful. One of the (very many) reasons that processed food encourages weight gain is that it doesn't require much chewing, so it's possible to eat a whole load of it before "fullness" kicks in.

Just in from a 7.1mile run, my furthest to date, 1 hour and 7mins, pleased with that, took an energy gel about half way which perked me up 😀

What a change in the weather here, about -10 on Saturday night, to +12 today, the snow has pretty much disappeared 😳😳

I've had the energy gels before and found sweets do a similar job and cost a lot less. One or two every mile or so, and gives me something to look forward.
