LIV Golf

Meanwhile Liv has even fewer top players and virtually no TV audience.

For this reason the backers got bored and pulled out. Aggro in the Middle East being a convenient excuse.

Frankly, I don't care if liv continues. But I getting really really bored of the pretence that it was about enhancing the game.

It also appears that an event needs to be "postponed" because no one told them it gets hot in the summer. Comical.

"thankfully now looks like disappearing up its own arse."

Do you know what you actually want Ian...

Personally the best thing to hopefully come out of this is we see the top
Players competing against each other week in week out.
I just like watching the top players do battle, I don’t care about the money, which tour or where it is.
I’m not that interested in the politics of it all but like to see the best in the world playing golf.

That's a mythical fantasy though....

The LIV model actually tried to give you that - not every week of course but a HUGE improvement on what we were used to...

Why is it a fantasy?
It’s what I would like to see and having one tour all the top players play on together is the best way of doing that.
Some will take certain weeks off for various reasons but that’s the same in every sport

I don't think that you'll see the "top players competing against each other week in and week out." The players will still have their individual schedules based on their wants and needs. Tour competitions aren't like other professional sports - each competition comprises four days of competition plus the ancillary practice rounds, pro-ams and media scrums. Four or five consecutive weeks seems to be the max for most players.

Yes players will choose what tournaments they play in depending on various things but having them all with the choice of playing must give a better chance than having 2 separate tours.
It’s no different than when 2 teams play each other in sport there will invariably be players injured or rested.

I don't think it's the same in many sports.

Does Lewis Hamilton take a week off cos' he's a bit slow round the track at a certain event... Do Leeds refuse to play any London clubs because their performances in the capital city aren't very good... Indeed, it's really just a thing with golf where players can hone their schedule to amplify their chances of winning, and their ranking, based on courses they perform well at.

Telling them they HAVE to play a minimum number of events at courses that offer different challenges would probably be much more indicative of their all round competence

Players do get rested/dropped in team sports if for example they are playing an opponent they struggle against, which might be the same as not choosing to play a course because it doesn’t suit you.
I do get what you are saying though.
I think there is more chance of seeing Bryson and Scottie playing the same tournament if they are both on the same tour

They were both playing at The Masters - what happened there? (oh ya, you have to make the cut!)
