LIV Golf

It’s a mess all round , a new tour came in and since then it’s just been a mess , there is no workings between any of the tours because they are all trying to look after their own entities

ET have tried to find a way to get players from LIV to play on their tour - it seems it’s ok for most of them bar one

I don’t think there will ever be a situation where they all sit harmoniously together - it’s too volatile a situation and no one wins - well apart from some golfers getting well paid across a number of tours

It is a shame that we don’t have the same sort of pyramid system as other sports like tennis or F1 etc where there is one main global tour where all the top players play and then there are feeder tours below

Yeah it’s a mess and when you’re as rich as Rahm you can afford to have principals (even if they’re not shared ones) But most of the ‘magnificent 7’ can’t go that route

I like the pyramid concept but really don’t want to see pgat ‘officially’ at the top of it. It’d need to be a new body with global reach and representation

Oh and @SteveW86 sun is out and its been roasting for months, course is scorched right now, really could do with some wet stuff

Important to remember that the DPWT asked Rahm to appeal so he could pay (the fines) and carry on playing DPWT events including the Ryder Cup.

I’d imagine Rahm now feels it’s in his best interest to let the legal people sort it out, he’ll end up paying a settlement and the DPWT will be forced to enforce the 4 event minimum.

Been following this story for the last few days - some of the LIV golfers were stuck in Dubai following on from the issues in Iran.
Looks like they’ve managed to get to Hong Kong safely. 👍

I mean "yay", but kind of makes a bit of a mockery at the 1000s of normal earning folk stuck out there with no idea when they can get home, but a few golfing millionaires can fund a jet and fly out to safety.. So back to "yay"

As one of the ‘stranded’ I can’t say I’m overly excited with this news.

Currently watching the LIV feed from HK - first one I’ve seen for a while. Where’s all the loud music some people complain about? :ROFLMAO:

Decent golf, names I recognise. But, for me, it’s very refreshing to hear calm, sensible commentators.

TBH, it could be a DP tour or PGA comp.

It’s just golf, packaged slightly differently to the other tours to give it a different appeal.

The furore about the format was always massively overstated 👍

Is it my setting in the app, or have they changed how they display the leaderboard.

It used to say how many holes left to play, not it says which hole the player is playing. Bit confusing for a shot gun start situation.

With the hype and it being golf, AK will probably be T40 next time out 😆

At the other end, one of the changes this year is how standings / merit points are allocated. Was just to top 24, now it is to whole field (obviously small points at bottom).
This will count against players who miss weeks. Maybe better for the more consistent middle order players.

Before starting, I was thinking it will likely be a farewell year to Poulter & Westwood (mind, did say that last year as well!). Maybe Mickleson also.
Poulter has actually started better, currently 37th. Westwood & Mickleson have missed 2 weeks, so all to do.
Kaymer missed one week also.
Quoting myself 😅 - Westwood surprised me/many with a couple of good weeks. Probably a tad frustrated with the rest of the 'sticks. Canter has surprisingly struggled so far, and Horsfield the last couple of seasons has been the best of the 4, but seems to be having a 'mare so far this year.

Mickleson is reported to be back this week. Wonder if they have anything in the 'rules' (that owgr would approve of) to cover his circumstances should he end up in the relegation zone.

Sounds like strong ticket sales in SA.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Phil call it a day at the end of this year - maybe transition into a non playing captain role.

Really enjoyed the SA event and great finish too, superb by Bryson on the playoff hole as well, great 2nd shot
I just watched the playoff, and as good as that 'second' shot was - it should really have been his third shot. They just granted him relief after hitting it in the spectator area. I didn't agree with that ruling at all. Chip it back into the fairway and play on, or take a penalty stroke for unplayable. It makes a mockery of even trying to hit the fairway. And that was one of the widest fairways I've ever seen to begin with.
