LIV Golf

For the quality of player he is, plus with a major - always wondered if he was a little miffed that didn't have his own team.

Maybe the negotiators are playing a bit of hard ball after all. 👀

You do have to giggle though dont ya

When Patrick went
Good riddance you can have the cheating *****

Now he is coming back

He is a major champion and will be a great addition to the PGA Tour.

Wonder how many are thinking "I was told id be banned for life but turns out I could have taken the bag for 3 years and come back to the PGA Tour after all"

Hideki wasn't happy about Brooks going back. I suspect he wishes he'd taken the opportunity when it was there for him. He still might of course.

I don’t think it matters whether people like Reed or not. Liv have done a great job but it’s not crammed with the very top players, there’s only a handful of them and Reed was one of them so for a tour trying to be the best it’s a massive blow to them. No one goes to watch Liv looking for Westwood or Poulter they’re irrelevant

*unless they pull a big star out the bag

I thought the narrative was, "LIV has lost about 40% of its big hitters in a very short space of time."

I'd say that was significant.

It’s like a late Christmas present for the obsessed LIV haters.
Reeds just got a few more fan boys 😆
Reed is obviously a good player. However, nobody liked Reed before he want to liv, nobody like him while hew was there and nobody will like him now he’s left.

What is funny is the Liv bots who were spaffing over their keyboards a week ago that one of theirs had won on another tour are now all over the place trying to spin this.

It’s all quite comical tbh.

I actually don’t mind him,before,during,or after 🤷‍♂️.

Could also say it’s funny how the LIV haters are all spaffing over him leaving LIV.
But I won’t 😉

What caused it though? LIV was supposed to have basically infinite money...

I wonder if the Bryson effect is denting some egos (and Reed certainly has an oversized one of those to protect).
LIV need Bryson. It's that simple. His media savvy and exposure is something else, alongside him being a top tier (well OK 2nd tier, but Scheffler has the top tier all to himself right now) golfer.
Bryson contract negotiations are ongoing but there will certainly be whispers/rumours about him getting X amount of $
Other players will know they're not Bryson but they'll certainly be going in to negotiations with the attitude that "If you can pay Bryson X then you can increase my contract to at least Y. After all, it's almost nothing compared to X...."
LIV is then caught in a bind. If it gives in to these demands then it's even further away from sustainability. Budget increasing just to hold some of what you already have isn't a model that works with anything and won't be in the long term strategy document.
The backers may have cracked open their infinite wallet for new toys, but throwing even larger sums down just to keep part of what you have isn't nearly so exciting. There will be reluctance and pushback there.
So LIV says no to increased wage demands frmo non-Bryosn golfers.
The response is then "well F you, if you don't think I'm even worth x% of what Bryson is then I'm off". You can absolutely imagine Reed saying something like this; and off he is...

How does LIV avoid such a squeeze repeating in every player's negotiations?

As a more amusing prediction - given Reed seems to have tried to sue everyone and everything else involved in golf at some stage, surely he'll manage to get into some sort of lawsuit with LIV? That definitely won't go well for him - I think they have plenty of money for lawyers :D :D
