LIV Golf

If PIF are interested in growing the game (and their market/audience), it's probably outside of the US and UK, particularly Asia, where the potential is much greater.

Wasn’t a real proposal/suggestion, its a staggering sum so just a relatable idea of how far 5bn could go in the real world of golf

It’s a staggering sum and it’s just going to keep climbing , PIF having to put £300plus mil every other month to keep it going
It is indeed, but if PiF considers that LiV is meeting its aims then I guess they will carry on funding it, not covinced it is though given the viewing figures, lack of commercial income and the general feeling among golfers towards it.

Feeling amongst OZ golfers is VERY positive...... :ROFLMAO:

Guess it depends on the aims

It wouldn’t surprise if they have changed a little since they got rid of Norman - imo he was intent on causing damage to the PGAT from the start and may well have been a big cause of the conflicts

They will prob start to move more events away from the US to a global tour and schedule events when they aren’t against any big events on the other tours

And then got to see if that global viewing market is there

I don’t think it is to the extent that makes it sustainable on its current financial model

Plenty of fans in UK. JCB sold out last year and some hospitality is already sold out for this year.
Went last year, was a great day & very reasonably priced.
Lots of fun things for the kids to do as well.
Maybe some of the anti LIV brigade should go & have a nice day out with their family rather than obsessing on here 🤷‍♂️

Did The Open and JCB last year.

Both good, but I preferred JCB. Easy day out rather than a few days away, and the field is obviously much more condensed so you aren’t waiting ages for the better groups to come through.

A lot of the retail vans looked to be the exact same ones at both events, and price wise, there wasn’t a lot in it.

Rumours circulating that the league is about to jump up to 60 players - on Sunday 3 groups started on the 1st hole which has been described as "The Final Test", this frees up space on the course to get 20 x 3 balls starting on each hole. It would make sense as I've seen a few people criticise the gaps in play at times when you're located on one hole (such as in hospitality etc)

How does that work with a shotgun start of if you have 3 groups on one hole ?

The group on 18 will come round and then you have people waiting ?

Also which players will they use to fill the gaps ?

Putting aside the specific for a 'mo (3 on 1st), in reality it is common to have 2 groups playing on par 5s and long par 4s - suspect they have some staff with each group so with a bit of knowledge of the course could stagger some groups starting a little bit to pace/space things fairly easily I would think.

Yeah we have a few double ups on some holes , 1 and 10 plus a par 5 with them going off a little bit before the hooter - it’s never a quick day but no idea if there are slow play issues or gaps in LIV
