LIV Golf

Question for those who went LIV at JCB last year…. Ticket details haven’t been released yet but what sort of prices are they for the Friday?

It says the golf starts at 1:15pm so what time do the gates open? What’s on before the golf? Anything going on after it?
I went last year,I think the gates opened about 11ish.
Ticket prices £40ish.

I’d definitely recommend going.
Food & drink is expensive, but that’s same everywhere.

This must have ruffled some feathers among the creators—it’ll be interesting to see who turns up for their next Creator Classic.

Pairing a creator with a pro is a much stronger concept than just watching creators play on their own.
Even LIV’s biggest critics, No Laying Up, acknowledged that LIV’s structure was the better format.
Yes the cc was a dull affair.

I'd imagine a price increase from last year - wouldn't be surprised if they are around the £50 mark.

Before, there's a small fan village - I though the one at Centurion was better tbh, merch tent and plenty of places to eat and drink. If the Majesticks arms is there this year, that looked like good fun overlooking the 9th green. After the golf there might be a concert - not sure if they did one last year on the Friday, the stage is set up by the public entrance (which is not the actual golf course entrance). Traffic will be bad leaving, so if there is a concert on, it'll be worth hanging around for it to let the traffic die down if nothing else.

Phone signal will be abysmal as it often is at these kind of events, so if you go as a group, it might be worth arranging meet up points and times.

3 of us went on the Friday last year and tickets were £23.40 each. No idea regards to gates opening as we had a fair distance to travel and got there about an hour before play started.

As others have said plenty of food and drink stalls about and various activities for kids and big kids in the main area near the merch tent

Cheers for all the replies, will hopefully go on the Friday. Replied to this one as your comments on the phone signal are so true and yeah I think your right on the ticket price rise.

Maybe Niemann if he has a good start

Got a sneaky feeling about Lefty, he has been playing well on Liv and knows Augusta better than most

Niemann has been talked about a lot

He will prob need to make the break through at some point soon

I’m more concerned about the self proclaimed best in the World Gooch - what’s happened

Golf as we know is a fickle game.
One minute the game is easy and your riding high, the next your struggling and cant put a score together.
The same thing happened to Hovland who is a better player, time will tell if Gooch can find the formula to start playing his best golf again.

Talor Gooch is one of those players who had a little hot streak and then disappears to being a standard player

He wasn’t anyone of note before he went to LIV , poor major record etc

Won a few LIV events and then became a legend in his own life with demands of going into majors etc etc

He got into a couple of majors and reality hit him and he will probably just fade away now

Why need? There are lots of great players never to breakthrough in a "major".

Countless top players have struggled for various reasons and never returned to former heights - Duval, Spieth, Kaymer, Donald, Day, Simpson, Walker, Mahan, etc.

Also, Gooch was a top-35 player (owgr) and top-20 (PGA Tour) before LIV and then won 3 times and finished top of the rankings, so his claim to be one of the best in the world (not the best), was certainly not unreasonable at the time.

Plenty of people have never won a Major, some in the HOF.

But what ever rocks your boat, heaven for bid a LIV player wins, hope you have an ambulance on standby. :ROFLMAO:

Winning a major gives a player that extra step up -

You have highlight multiple tour and major winners there , players that had long careers with little down spells and included world number 1’s

Top 35 ? Top 20

Not really the stellar golfer he was claiming himself to be

Multiple missed cuts in majors

So yep nowhere near the level he claimed he was

To even try and compare to players like Speith , Day etc is laughable at best

A bit harsh, Phillip.

Talor Gooch was ranked 31st in the world when he joined LIV Golf and had already secured a PGA Tour victory.
That alone speaks volumes about his ability, as breaking into the top 50 in the world is no small feat, let alone winning on one of the most competitive tours in the world.
Had he remained on the PGA Tour, it’s reasonable to assume that his Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) would have continued to improve, given the form he was in at the time and the golf he played on Liv.

I do agree with you to an extent—he was never going to be a generational talent or a world-beater. At his best, he was a top-20 caliber player, but that still makes him an extremely high-level professional golfer. Not every player has to be a multiple-major winner to still be considered elite.

Another thing people tend to overlook is just how difficult it is to succeed at the highest level in golf.
The difference between a player ranked 20th in the world and one ranked 100th is often razor-thin.
Winning on the PGA Tour is considered a benchmark, and maintaining a high ranking over multiple seasons is even harder and he achieved both.

LIV Golf often gets criticised, but the level of competition at the top is stronger than many give it credit for.
When you have players like Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Cam Smith, and Bryson DeChambeau in the field, winning on LIV is no walk in the park. Gooch more than held his own in that environment, which further proves his quality as a player at the time.

Right now though he is struggling with his game.
