Never heard of him - seems he has come through the Asian Tour

The third day really is a killer for the guys not playing well!
Usually they'd just get cut - now they have to play another round knowing they're not in with a shout and with little to play for unless their team towards the top of the leaderboard. Going to be far more occurrences of 20+ over in LIV I'm sure!

I’m not sure if he is one of the guys who has qualified from the Asian Tour
I guess one of the reasons why everyone gets a cheque is to compensate for having to play all three rounds even if after the 1st round you would have zero chance of making the cut
Not sure how that would affect any playing partner who would be chasing the win

He did win OOM Asian though.
He certainly had a stinker, esp on day 1 when the wind was right up.
A player was +13 after two rounds in 2020, it is a course that can punish.

Re the bold - appreciate you likely haven't watched - from memory the groups change after each round. The top 3 from R1 would play together in R2, starting from the 1st. The worst 3 would play together starting somewhere mid-course.
Although it didn't happen for Kim, last year quite often a player out of it after 2 rounds, played much better in R3 and counted for the team thing. The much maligned Perez did it a few times. Ironically he played well last week - must be February!

Its the caddies I am worried about now. Will their rights be retained or will they find themselves at the mercy of cruel player overlords again, letting them go hungry and sleeping in their cars ?

Well, LIV Golf's Mexico weekend ratings were terrible. Considering how thin the Honda field was compared to LIVs, the numbers below are quite the indictment:

The graphic i shared was from a US news outlet, but you can just look up sports viewing figures from the previous week online via Skedball (I understand this is only US figures, but the US is golf’s biggest viewing market, so the data is relevant).

In addition to being US only, the figures are not even directly comparable due to several The CW affiliates (e.g. those owned by CBS) refusing to broadcast LIV. This included many of the larger markets, including: Philadelphia, Atlanta, San Francisco, Tampa, Seattle, Detroit, Sacramento, Pittsburgh, Chicago, San Diego. The figures also do not include available streaming platforms, which is likely to make up a substantial proportion of the LIV audience, but not so much for the PGA Tour.
Edit: They also do not include other networks that did broadcast LIV in markets where The CW did not.

Stats and viewing figures are all interesting, but the initial one for Saturdays PGA appears to be wrong (should be 1.61 million, not 6.61 million).
But, stats are constantly misused. Remove LIV from the comparison and insert, say the previous weeks PGAT event (the Genesis) and it would suggest the PGAT and NBC have a lot to worry about. The Genesis figures were down year on year (despite Tiger playing) but even with this decline, more than double the amount of people watched the Genesis vs Honda (3.32m vs 1.6m).
With LIV, you could argue 291k on the CW isn't that bad (younger demographic, young product etc.). Last year LIV had 100k viewers on Youtube. This year, it has 291k on a TV network and who knows how many on their app - it is worth noting the LIV+ app was the most downloaded sports app for a period last week. I'm not sure I'd be celebrating a PGAT victory yet - but it does help push a certain narrative.
Basically, the clickbait headline is exactly what's suggested - PGAT trounced LIV in the ratings. Beyond the clickbait, non-elevated events on the PGAT have seen a 50% fall off. Any reason to worry there? (Sky golfs viewing figures are in the low to mid 10,000s).
I'm a big fan of stats ("this amount of LIVs field was over par!!!" but in reality similar to PGATs Honda participants % wise), but in context..... for example, how did the DPWT American broadcast fare? Using the American model ('cause that's what we're doing), LIV on the CW already has surpassed the LPGAs viewing figures - and LIV is only embarking on its first 'full' year! I should say I'm not an advocate for one or the other, I'm not a fan of the LIV baiting, and for transparency I downloaded the app and watched more LIV this weekend (a few hours) than I did PGAT (10 mins until I realised Lowry was out of contention) and Ladies Golf (probably about an hour in total). I think there's space for both. The numbers are interesting but only to a very narrow point.

It was always the case for the 1st full season with the team element more cemented in place that the team earnings now go into a team pot.
From that pot the teams pay for their expenses (players and caddies) and whatever is left is split 4 ways at the end of the season to the players.
So the $3 million The Crushers got at Mayakoba covers their season expenses already.
Team transfers also comes from this pot of money so if you sell a player the transfer fee goes in the pot and vice versa if you buy one.
It all adds to the importance of the team concept to the players.

Sounds like it would be very frustrating having a hacker in your side.
Who transfers players in and out of teams? The team captain? If so, who appoints the team captain to each team? LIV?
If Rahm said he was going to join, what is the process in assigning him to a side? Can he become Team Captain, and how does he qualify for it?

That is a good point actually because im pretty sure I heard that the captains own equity in the teams.
A % of team merch sales also goes into the pot.
I presume if Rahm went to the fireballs he could gain equity in the team in some way but thats a guess to be honest.
All clear as mud still but for sure the players always knew that their expenses were to be paid from team earnings in the future.

LPGA was in Thailand this week and on in the middle of the night for US - I don't think that is close to a fair comparison! (I also saw something that suggested LPGA was higher than LIV, but I don't really care enough to validate either way!)
Also, Genesis with Tiger was MILES up on last year.
