LIV Golf

This kids played a bit of college golf, won one event that gets him an invite into a major. What he hasn’t done is prove he can compete against the big boys on tour and he’s not earned his right to play anywhere. You can defend it and say meritocracy is outdated and shouldn’t be the only way to give young athletes a chance. It isn’t the only way, he could have proved it playing at the Masters, playing in lesser tours or earning his way to LIV like AK, Lee etc except he hasn’t he’s had it handed to him on a plate.
Just on this point, Da Sasso has done a bit more than win one event that affords a couple of major exemptions (US Open & Masters) and to say he hasn't earned the right to play anywhere is incorrect. He sits at number 3 on the PGA Tour University Ranking, which affords KFT exempt status and unlimited PGAT sponsor exemptions. A couple more decent finishes and he'd have been exempt on the PGAT.

He's chosen to join LIV in preference to that opportunity (and playing in the Masters).

No it’s not how everyone in business and life would respond.
Start lying to your customers and friends and see how many you have left in a year.
Oh please. The truth isnt and the full picture is rarely told in business and in life.

Just look at the NEWS. Every story they tell you on the evening broadcast is only a percentage correct.

Its never 100% correct. NEVER.

Seems like DeChambeau sees YT as a more appealing option than returning to the PGA Tour.
Well in a recent interview on the Good Good podcast with Garrett in 2019 he earnt on his personal channel 250k. (Quote from his father. He didnt even know)

His channel (1.4 mill subs) is now 10x bigger.

Good good (2 mill subs) which he owns 60% of is even bigger.

So Bryson with 2.6 million subs and growing and millions of views per video with trailing commissions coming in forever as new people come to youtube golf ....

Its will probably be more profitable in the long run compared to being on the PGA.

Brysons video with John daly of 10 milion views the internet is saying he earn 200K

I think the Trump one was double that.

From 1 video. Playing a sport you love.

And he seems to enjoy he youtube stuff so much.

I totally 100% disagree with you.
The news is a poor example, it’s a TV programme designed to attract viewers.

Most business have to tell the truth or they wouldn’t be in business very long as nobody would use them more than once.

Does anyone think the PGAT Returning Member Program also sends a message to the leading PGAT players saying

"Oh so im not banned for life or for years, you can go and take the bag of LIV money for a few years and I will be able to come back if my name is important in world golf."

So Xander for example. (Not saying he will go by the way)

It probably does.

It also sends a message that the desperately need as many big names in their events as possible.

Brooks is gonna play a lot of events this year that ordinarily guys of his calibre would not enter - that's good for those events as long as he plays well, but we won't see him face off with Scottie too often, let's just hope he his clear of all his injury and form issues cos it doesn't matter where you play, unless your name is tiger people don't really care to watch you struggle.

It does, but I also think anyone up there that would have had any interest in going would have already gone by now anyway. Doubt it changes anything.

The people that fund the game or have financial interests in it might disagree.
I don’t think that’s the point he’s making. You’re 100% right the manufacturers and money people will be fully behind it as it increases their revenue and balance sheets.

But for the rest us, do we really care if LIV, PGAT, DPWT or any other pro tour do anything to grow the game. We’re all self Interested in our own clubs and games do we care if the games grown in Asia, Europe, or even in our country. I know I’m not bothered as long as I get to play and my club remains open and a good place to be.

I’m sure they do. But they aren’t most people.

Personally I very much care.

But I accept some won’t.

Bear in mind, there are many, many people who have no access or limited access to golf - I suspect they also would love to see some exponential growth that maybe benefits them, and brings tournaments closer to their homes.

I’m sure Chuck and Ronnie at their country club in Florida probably dgaf though…. 😂
