LIV Golf

Southern Guards?? That sounds awful. Should have called themselves Springbok GC or something.

Bryson won't be leaving, but he won't come out and state that because he'll be looking to extract more money out of them to stay, as well he should.
At this moment in time the PGAT offers nothing of value to Bryson. The money he’s made/making at LIV there isn’t an event even the crap that is the FEDEX cup that makes it enticing. He is still hugely competitive in majors and has qualified donees cup outright.

He holds all the cards to his own destiny and I think that’s a frustration for the PGAT as he flies in direct contrast to what they’re trying to do and he’s hugely supported.

Just seen a great comment on the instagram announcement. Someone’s wrote “didn’t realise it was change of team name, I though you’d hired a cheap SA security firm to run the entry gates” 😂

Would it be better if both sides were committed to a solution to bringing it back together rather than extending the war ?

Both sides seem as far away as ever right now.

I guess if you set up in direct competition with an organisation, using a limitless heap of cash for your own political aims, you shouldn't be surprised if the other side get the hump. ;)

LIV targeted the top guys to jump by offering daft amounts of money, I don't see how offering those players a way back is any other other than sensible.

Seems to have gone under the radar that Dustin Johnson has extended his Liv Contract..

He casually mentioned it at the Liv presser last night.

Makes sense. Seems about the least motivated golfer on the circuit and on his round stats (Strokes Gained etc) over the last couple of years he’s outside of the world’s top 100 and so would be unlikely to retain a PGAT card on merit. His performances at US located majors in the last 2 years are CUT, T43, CUT, CUT, CUT, CUT which points the same way.

He could come again of course - there’s surely ample talent there if he wants or needs to turn it around?

I think he realised his game was getting worse and LIV came along at the perfect time for him.
I think the same can be said of a lot of players who joined up.

Its just a shame Jay Monahan didnt take the call from Yassir that resulted in Liv setting up direct competition.

Im sure if he could turn the clock back that would be the one thing he wishes he had a mulligan on.
Liv wouldn't exist.
Billions would have been invested into the PGA Tour
All the best players would be in the same place.
He would still be commissioner.

Just for context he didnt refuse the call because of the source of the money..

I highly recommend reading LIV AND LET DIE by Alan Shipnuck to learn about how this whole mess came to pass from the Premier Golf League to PGAT PIF approach to setting up Liv Golf.

The equity is next to nothing at the end of the day

Pathways , true relegation etc

It’s not right that players performing worse stay
Any different to the 'special invitations' or sponsors invites that keep failing players on the PGA tour still invited to tournaments?

Well the rules are
if you finish in the top 24 LOCK ZONE you are SAFE
If you finish in the relegation zone 49th or lower YOU ARE GONE.

If you finish in the 25th-48th OPEN ZONE you need to get resigned up.

Matt Jones who finished 40th did not get resigned by Ripper because they wanted to bring in the young talented Aussie Elvis.
Tyrell Hatton who we all agree is a top golfer and played solid on Liv finished in the OPEN ZONE and relied on Legion 13 resigning him.

The rules are there and clear.
Like most things with Liv Golf they are different to traditional golf but there all the same.

As Rory would say play better and get in the top 24 🤷‍♀️

Any different to a 62 year old retired bloke invoking an earnings rule to take a spot on tour instead of someone who’s actually qualified. 🤔

Like your response shows the PGA has stupid categories as well.
