I think Pieters, Steele and Lee were the final 3....

Brendan Steele and Danny Lee are the 2 "others" to join LIV for this year....
To say I'm underwhelmed would, I think, be an understatement of truly epic proportions.

If true, then no question but LIV is really tanking. When the field is only 54, every non-name signed is an admission of failure.
LIV did not set out to have tour of the Steeles, Lees, and Westwoods of the world. PGAT has plenty of similar, but in a field of 140 or whatever, that is a good thing. And the key is that they still have the overwhelming majority of the cream of the crop. When it is only filler plus literally a handful of top rank pros, LIV is a backwater. Interesting to see where they go - they are not going to sustain it on that kind of small field with only a smattering of relevant names, and some golden oldies.

So Steele ranked over 100 and hasn’t won for 6 years and Lee ranked over 200 plus and hasn’t won for 8 years 😳 - are they scrapping the barrel now looking for players

Brendan Steele. 39. Strong record of missing cuts in majors. It looks like they are even scraping the bottom of the pre-champions tour barrel.

There’s a bit of an echo in here 🙄

A question. Maybe Imurg could answer this. Sorry in advance but I'm not scrolling through thousands of posts to find the answer.

How many players have LIV now signed? Assuming that in each event, 48 or is it now 52 players are in the playing field, what happens to those who are discarded? What is the deal to those who were recruited to make up the numbers, but now find themselves surplus to requirements? Do they get paid despite not playing? Do they have an escape clause in their contracts?

I'm firmly in the European & PGA tour camp, but genuinely confused with what these players sign up for, apart from lucrative signing on fees.

Am no expert but fairly sure last year only a fraction had 'signed', predominantly those previously established on the PGAT. The 2022 events were essentially 'invitationals' and the numbers were made up by those willing to take some heat in return for chance of earning some cash, essentially ad-hoc. For 2023, and the start of the league, I assume they are looking to finalise the 48 as much as possible.
