Hi all.

im booked for a lesson with the local pro on friday.

But im just wondering what I should do in the mean time? I recieved a highly rated golf swing sort of tuition book this month. And I was thinking of heading to the range later and trying some of the tips out. But im worried it would be counter productive come lesson time.

any thoughts?

I would just hit a few balls and work on nothing more than keeping tempo and timing going. Let the pro earn his money sorting any issues out rather than you trying to self diagnose or tinker with what might be going wrong

I would not put to many Ideas in my mind, stick with one pattern at a time. I would just concentrate on the basics for now.

You have done the correct thing in booking a lesson, if this is your first lesson I would suggest that you take no notice from the book just yet, let the Pro look at you and set you off on the right track. Enjoy and good luck.

90 % of what is in the book is the same as the things your pro is going to tell you to do.

start nailing the section titled fundamentals. this is grip and posture. there is absolutely no need to wait on these. begin and make the pros job on this easier as he will probably only have to tweak rather than start from scratch.

I agree with other suggestions don't change anything go along to the lesson let the pro see you hit a few balls evaluate and work on his ideas. As for a game Saturday, imo depending on how much you agree to change I would consider skipping playing and have a range session instead.

Ill see how it goes mate. Be no use playing at the minute everything right and oob!

cheers for all the suggestions everyone I appreciate it all

Don't get too disheartened mate, remember you only shot your PB last week and it could have been much better bar those last 2 holes.
You were striking it really well the last few times we've played specially your irons.
