Last iron to driver lofts?

Currently I'm carrying Driver, 3wood then 3-Pw but the 3i can be swapped out for either a 2iron or 19* degree hybrid depending on the course I'm playing.

At the moment I have a 5iron with 26° (which I love to hit), a 21° hybrid, an 18° 5wood and a driver with 12° loft in my bag.

I also have a 4iron and a 25° hybrid, but I don't carry them at the moment, because they do not really fill a gap and a 15° 3wood which I just plainly cannot hit, so it stays at home as well.

Don't get too tied up with lofts. My 4 hybrid goes about 10-15 yards further than my similarly lofted 4 iron as it's lighter and had a longer shaft.

There's more to it than just lofts IMO.

Ditto. Don't know my lofts, just know my distances. Find the club that goes the distance to fill the gaps evenly. My hybrid goes about 10-15 further than my 4i and my 3w goes another 15-20 then my driver is about another 20 yards.

Agree the lofts aren't that important. What really matters is how far you can hit them. I have a 5 wood that goes about 200 - 220 depending on the hardness of the surface, I can get about 185 out of my 4 iron. There's potentially a slight gap there but I live with that and prefer to have an extra club at the scoring end. I'm pretty realistic and don't ask too much from that distance.....I'd probably only hit a green from 190 about 1 in 5 even if I had the exact club.

Just ensure you have the distance covered and that you can hit them consistently. No point in having a nice spread of lofts if they all go similar distances, or if you can't hit them consistently.

So what you do if you have no access to trying all these different clubs to find exact distances you hit then?

Can you not trust the loft?

Personally I would say you couldn't. I know when I was trying hybrids there was a good 30 yards difference between the best and worst of the same lofted hybrid's. Part could also be down to shaft length as well.

Obviously, conditions make a huge difference to this but . . . . . .

4i is 24 degree's and goes - 190 yds
4 hybrid is 22 degrees plays like a 3i - 200 yds
17 degree 5 wood - 215-220 yds
12 degree driver - 240 yds

Oh and I can knob any of them 20 yds

Personally I'd say 15/19/23 was about right, anything more or less than the 19* would be negligible surely ?...

The lofts are nicely spread, but as others have mentioned it's the distances that are important.
I have around 15-20 (carry) between 4 iron and hybrid, then another 20-25 from hybrid to 3 wood.

Ideally I'd like to go 4 iron, 3 iron or 21° hybrid, 5 wood, 3 wood, then have 15yd gaps between them all.

Hybrid @22°
5 wood at anything between 18° & 20° depending on conditions/needs - currently 19°
3 wood as above but between 15° and 17° - currently 15°
9° driver set to 10°
A bit of a gap between 5i and hybrid but I can take a few yards off it easily.
