Nice suprise , I've been chosen by another but not as good golf mag to take part in a golf clinic at john o gaunt golf club, think its down bedfordshire??????it,s being done by lee scarbrow, might book a round in if I've got time.Anybody played it and what's it like??

Looks like nobodys heard of it.Is it that bad :O

We played there on Wed in the Volvo and have played it another couple of times. There are two courses and both excellent quality and worth playing. It is Beds and not far off the A1. Members club with rather draconian rules and some pompous members but the guys we played were great so as usual a few bad ones making it uncomfortable for the rest of us!

Never had a lesson with Lee but we played a Pro-Am there and he seemed a good laugh!

2 courses there, the John O'Gaunt which is the main course and the Carthagena across the road. The JOG is pretty tough with some longish par 4's and very thick rough just off the fairways and around the greens which I actually think is a bit unfair. I was a member there for a very short while and didn't find it fair hitting long irons into small greens, missing by a couple of yards and then having no shot. The Carthagena is much more forgiving and would probably be most people's favourite. It's a bit shorter and wider but still a very good test of golf.

Great clubhouse with good facilities.

ps...forgot to mention that each day one course is 2 balls and the other is 3 and 4 balls so you can always get round quickly if only a single or 2 ball. It changes over each day so if you are going to play and want to play a particular course check with the pro shop in advance.
