I have never in all my golfing life been into a clubhouse where I didn't have the option of wearing my golf clothing. Pretty much all of those that require J&T only enforce it in the dining room. Even those that require it after a certain time usually have a spike bar. Maybe if the poll questions had been a bit more relevant the outcome would have been completely different.

you can always start your own, it iwll be the same outcome though, most golfers justy arent interested in the whole J&T thing.

I expect the results of the poll are pretty obvious - most people don't want to wear a jacket and tie , it's not exactly a shock result

The better question for me would be - Would you turn down a round at a top club because you had to wear J&T in the clubhouse for the after round meal.

thats a completety differnt question though....

I don't think many would turn a round down at a great course due to wearing a J&T after to go into their dining room for a meal, however, having to change in the middle of 36 holes into a J&T obviously showering to then eat and then get back into golf gear I would possibly bring sandwiches as that's a bit of palaver imo.

So are you having sandwiches at Sunningdale ?

I'll honestly see how I feel after 18 holes, especially if my gout flares up which it starts to sting after or close to 18, if that's the case I'm not running around showering, changing and then changing again. I'll relax it with as much fluid intake as I can so I can go back out again fitter.

I'm there for the course not the meal, yes the whole experience would be nice but I'd prefer that experience at the end of my round/s, not in the middle of it.

Recently had a review at our society and rules that unless a golf club dictates it, we will no longer go Jacket and Tie for the meal after our away days.

Personally i don't object to it, although middle of July is may be a little toastie so would much prefer shirt and tie only.

It wouldn't stop me playing a course as that's what i'm there for but i'd expect a decent level of food, if they are wishing for you to make an effort. They should too.

RSG is the most prestigious course on my list so far and tbh i wasn't massively impressed with the carvery. Dessert(s) was good though!

That's got to be a first, I think the food right across all servings is excellent at RSG.
