is this normal ''golf lessons''

It would be interesting to compare how much business he would do if he offered lessons for £25 and £5 extra for balls one week and £30 with balls included the following week . :)

I guess it depends if the guy giving the lesson works for the range, or is more independant. I don't think it's unreasonable to charge for balls if the coach doesn't get them for free.

For sure but packaging the product a little better would be a better sell. Tough to have a lesson without balls....

i've had lessons at 3 different N1 Golf locations in north london. Trent Park, Barnet Copthall and A1.

you have to pay for your own Sandie Shaws at all locations. Just the way it is.

Don't think it's that unreasonable, someone's got to pay for the balls and the pro ain't hitting any! If you're happy with the price of the lesson + price of balls then I wouldn't worry. Otherwise I'd go elsewhere.

Would you pay a driving instructor for diesel? He ent driving the car?

I'd expect it to be included in the cost of the lesson. After all the instructor wouldn't be randomly driving around for an hour otherwise! Much like golf, I'd expect the balls to be in the price of the lesson, but if I had to pay for balls separately and the lesson + balls is better value than the alternative, then it wouldn't matter to me.

A driving instructor and fuel is a bad comparison really - the instructor has to pay for a certain commodity (i.e. fuel) but a golf pro doesn't really pay out of his own pocket for range balls - they just put a token in a machine which costs them zero and is probably incidental to the range business anyway. It's not a great way of encouraging anyone to take lessons and as stated earlier for the prices quoted is a bit of a cheek. People vote with their feet and in this case I'd be inclined to look elsewhere if you feel ripped off - it almost sounds like being charged for your knife and fork at a restaurant (a better analogy perhaps)

The driving instructor comparison wasn't my choice! I guess it's what you're used to - the local range has teaching professionals attached but they don't own the range. Whether they have a deal with the range owners on the balls or not I don't know, I would just look at the total price with balls and go elsewhere if better offers can be found.
