to learn this game (as much as is possible) than the average height bloke, last time I noticed it was about 5'11'', only asked as I remember Faldo saying he was having trouble with his swing at one point and put it down to his 6'3'' ish. And when I go to Wentworth, it does seem to me most of the pro's seem under the average height.(most not all)
well I'm a shorty and have no excuse then!
IN reply to the OP i would say having gone to the Welsh Open a few times I would say the average pro is taller then the norm, maybe in the past, say 20 years ago golfers were shorter but these day they are tall and very well toned gym rats.
I went to watch an LET tournament at Woburn a few years ago. As I walked to the 1st tee I kept being overtaken by very tall girls wearing golfing gear. I initially thought they must be models on some sort of promotion for a golfing clothes company, but then realised that they were the lady golfers. They were only meeting up with their caddies and golf clubs on the tee. So even in ladies golf, being tall must be an advantage!
No but it's harder for small people to hit long irons
Except that the top 5 players on the LPGA money list are all 5'7" and under.
We don't have many Koreans playing on the LET tour! Most of the girls I saw were 5'9" or more!
Does that mean it's harder for tall people to hit short irons![]()
