Great play by Tiger today and I for one hope he can continue with this type of form and challenge like he used to.

But....I've had enough of the american commentators always referring the 'Tiger of old' and 'Tiger this' and 'Tiger that', whilst we are watching other players - especially Rory. The day should have been about him being him playing the best over the four days and the fact that he is now world number one but all we hear about is Tiger who finished joint 2nd.

On another note, Lee Westwood played a blinder today, yet we barely saw any of him and it's completely wrong. He's 3rd in the world ranking and not 23rd like Tiger.

I'll be watching the next PGA tournament with the TV on mute!

The crowds flock to see one man alone and that is Tiger and not Westwood and that is why T.V.show the great man.

it doesn't bother me too much but i think its the commentators that set tiger up for the fall.they need to sit back and just enjoy whatever he goes and does, and stop trying to foresee the future and predict a magnificent comeback that may never happen..but then again it might do.

the tiger of old is exactly that, whatever he does now is the up to date tiger,it wouldn't be the tiger of new...its the same old tiger.nothing has changed,he's a little bit older and has a lot of personal crap thats went on and ultimately made a huge difference to his game but thats life.

the comment about westwood is spot on though,he shoots a blinder aswell and you see nearly sweet fa of that....and then theres the coverage of when they went back out to play at roughyl 4-4.30pm our time or should i say lack of.....the american network decided to bugger off and not come back until 6pm our time....absolute tools!!!!!

I can see the same thing happening with Rory when the hysteria kicks in, i do wish the programme makers could rein the comentators in. As for those bloody yank fans...I think the Ryder cup could be a mess this year.

I recorded it whilst watching top gear so was a hour behind and the beauty of recording it is that I can skip all the add breaks and fast forward all the comments about Tiger. But didn't he play well.

He is the best player this era has seen. Plain and simple.

He was never in serious contention.

Please read the above.

Not worth getting worked up about as we can't change it......but US golf coverage is nothing short of shocking. I'm sure that in yesterdays round they missed some of Rory's shots live. Very poor coverage of things that matter to the audience that they are selling to outside the US.

Here's an idea, instead of filling us with numerous breaks in coverage whilst they plug their adverts, keep the cameras rolling and feed the stuff that johnny foreigner (that be us) wants to see. I'm sure SKY pay them enough for the feed, with today's technology, it shouldn't take too much to do something like that...

It was more than a tad frustrating but at least Tiger was in contention this time. It would seem he's given the lion's share of the coverage when he plays and sometimes we're watching him all evening scrape home T42nd.

What I found more annoying was hearing a number of dull thuds, seemingly at random. I can only assume it was Johnny Miller's stiffy banging on the underside of his desk.

I'm glad it's not just me, leaney!

I thought just the same after Rory pushed his approach (to 15, I think it was) moments after Woods had holed out at 18 and a huge roar could be heard round the course. The commentator said of McIlroy's effort "That's a Tiger push" or something very similar, inferring that Rory had hit a shocker as a direct result of Woods posting a 10-under total. My immediate thought was that it was patronising in the extreme.

I have always found the network coverage of Woods vomit inducing.

American commentators are going to do this in the same way that we get so excited about Andy Murray in the tennis (or used to about Tim Henman). It's just a bit of nationalistic pride as he was the man leading the Americans for so long.

When tiger plays the ratings rise, when he plays well they go through the roof.

For advertisers and sponsors they want tiger on the screen, as that's the best exposure they get.

Maybe when Rory has achieved some more they will agree and include more of him too.

BTW turning down the volume won't make Rory magically appear on the tv screen :)

But then it will be on to the next person. Americans love a local hero and whilst it is their cameras providing the shots they will always find an american to focus on.

Tiger Woods is probably the best player to ever play the game. He is the man everybody comes to see, look at the crowds he pulls in and the millions that watch the tv coverage to see the great man. The millions the sponsors pay. He has done so much for the game of golf and he is the reason so many watch and play, its as simple as that.
I personally dont mind watching all the coverage of him, we should count our generation very fortunate to be able to say we could watch the greatest player that ever lived almost every week. And we have been and will be watching live when has and will pull off those special shots and creates those special moments.
I say make the most of it, we will all wish we seen more when hes gone.

It was great watching Tiger yesterday, the shot on the 18th was prolific.. not quite the same as watching Rory chop it around in the rough scraping pars and laying up ;)

Having Tiger and Rory both playing for the next few years will be great TV... Rory is the new Mickelson

Lol bait cast!
I honestly think there is a difference when ahead and about to gain something for the first time and doing it week in week out. Id say Rory wouldnt have laid up had he had no other incentive other than another comp win. Going for World No.1 probably had JP pulling his reigns in.

Just about sums it up perfectly. Added to that it was a PGA tour event so - understandably - the Americans are going to focus on their own - it's what they always do. You also have to remember that, Tiger, Mickelsen, Bubba and Fowler aside, the majority of american players have zero personalities and play similar styles of golf so most of the golf the average american viewer watches is dull as dishwater.
