I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

A tad less breezy than of late but still enough to keep it interesting.
Dropped a gross 76(+5) or a 3.9 score diff from my 20 so a decent round was needed to stay put....
Just the 2 bogeys on our 1st 9 for 19 points...decent..
Our 2nd 9...3 bogeys after a par, par start and then pars to finish - including a 30 yard chip in for a par....sweet.
So...a gross 76(+5) or a 3.9 score diff.....mission accomplished

Nett 70 in the last medal of the year. Difficult conditions in the wind and hard to clear the putting line of leaves before the wind blew more in the way. Got a 2 as well, won overall so nice boost to shop account. Also cut to 17.9, 4 shots lower than the start of the year 😄
Just seen it was a PCC of 2 on Saturday - and about 19 of 104 starters NR'd. 18 players called off the previous evening/first thing in the morning.

First game today at Sun City and had a shank, thankfully no more.....had 33 points but was not even close to the winner who had 48 point

Most probably go out a shot. :ROFLMAO:

Played Melville Glades and had a nightmare on the greens, my putting was awful, lipped out three holes in a row and had at least three more, also missed heaps, somehow managed to score 34 points.....as they say here 'How good is Golf' with greeted teeth.

Round 7 of our Seniors Dunningham competition today. Just one round left in this comp where your best 5 (stableford) scores from 8 rounds count.

Unfortunately, due to holidays, this was only my 4th round and my 5th will be the final round in a couple of weeks time.

As it stood after my 3 previous rounds, I was on 101 pts about 35 places adrift of the leader who had 5 counting rounds for 172.

I started off shockingly and was 7 over gross after just 5 holes, seemingly unable to launch any fairway wood shot more than 5ft off the ground. Got my act together on 6, sorted out what was wrong and proceeded to play the closing 13 holes in level par gross for a 77 and 38 stableford points.

Todays round has left me in 28th place after my 4 rounds, currently 36 points behind the leader, with everyone ahead of me having played at least 5 rounds.

I fear that 36 points may be too much of a gap to bridge, especially as the current leader could improve his score by a couple of points by beating his current worst counting round (33)...and there are a couple of others that might creep up to the 176-178 range.

On the plus side though...todays differential of 7.5 will replace a 12.2 in the record, which should see my index drop to 9.1, which will be the lowest its been since August 2022. Another comp on Thursday and a similar round will take me well down into the 8's.

Got out for a nine hole practice. Saw three blokes playing up the 9th and I was booked on the 10th, so I rushed onto the tee quickly - weirdly this set the tone for the whole nine and I couldn't change my mindset! Felt like I was rushing and playing at breakneck speed. As a consequence, driving was poor (slice one, pull one), and chipping was poor again - instead of knifing them this time I was hitting them off the toe about 15 feet right of target. Putting was alright so I salvaged mainly bogeys.

Finished in under an hour despite playing two balls on the last hole as well. 😆 It's the same as when I start off putting badly and just continue putting badly for the whole round - whatever mindset I start off with, I just cannot change it.

I don’t think your cut out to to be a Jedi 😂😂

It's the best / most enjoyable course I've ever played. Wonderful place. Lucky man 👍

Certainly is. We’ve done all three courses over three days. An absolute treat. A tough call, but I think the PGA Centenary just about pips the others as my favourite.

That's interesting. It's the one I haven't played there but most people put it 3rd out of the 3. They tend to say it's a bit of a slog. How different was it to the other 2.

The King's is my favourite course anywhere, it made me smile from start to finish.

The whole set up at Gleneagles is fabulous. A golfers dream. Pleased you enjoyed it 👍

It’s very different, primarily because it’s so much newer than the other two, although it is clear that it’s fully and firmly established.

It’s a very difficult call. We played the King’s first, and I loved it. Then we played the Queen’s, and for me that just about pipped the King’s. Now the PGA pips the other two. I suspect my views may change once I’ve had time to reflect on the three rounds.

It’s a joy to be able to play a course which has hosted a Ryder Cup, and the PGA has Jack Nicklaus stamped all over it - extensive bunkering being the most obvious trademark.

Personally I didn’t find it a slog, but I do get it out there a reasonable distance from the tee. There are certainly some long par 4’s, but I found that to be more the case on the King’s, where one hole (4, I believe) played brutally long into a stiff breeze. Not one of the dozen of us reached it in regulation.

Fabulous venue. The starters and course marshals all added to the experience - warm, welcoming, funny and happy to engage and help us enjoy our visit.

Expensive at £220 per round, but absolutely worth the money as a one off, which this trip was.

Just back from two days at Turnberry. KRTB on Monday then Ailsa yesterday.

Place is very impressive (if expensive!!). Ailsa is truly incredible, probably right in #1 on my best courses

Would upload some photos but they are too large

Edit managed to do it
