I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Managed to get in 18 yesterday evening, teeing off at 15:50 and rolling in our last putts at 18:20. Wind was tougher that the MetOffice predicated, the run of 4-7 straight into the teeth. I didn't even make the carry on 6 over the valley (probably 180 yards) and I hit it pretty well.
Didn't really play that well and got stuffed 4&3 and had to buy the pints again.

Also played on Sunday morning, 4BBB stroke play. We had a gross 70 for a net 70 as I 3 putted both shot holes but I did birdie one of the holes my mate loses a shot. We were happy with our effort in the wind, winners had 66 which was a great score in the conditions. I took a short video while waiting on the 6th tee as the sea was a little choppy.

Having rested my sore heel I ventured out with CVG yesterday...
Starting on 10 and I think my game thought we were starting on 1 coz it was definitely on a different part of the course....
A hugely fortunate 14 points was the best I could have scored.....and the heel was OK, I could feel it but no pain.
Onto the 1st and reunited with my game as I rattled off 6 pars on the bounce...an unlucky bounce caused a bogey on 7 but a good par on 8 before a good bogey, after a bunker shot with 3 inches of sand under my feet and 3mm under the ball = ball skulled into oblivion .
19 points back so a respectable 33 but......
The heel started to explode coming up 7....hobbled the rest of the way, could barely walk after getting up from the table after breakfast..
No more golf until after the weekend and then just a few holes to keep things moving, at least until this thing settles down...
Currently sitting watching the golf with me foot on a bag of frozen peas...Rock 'n' Roll....

Smashing day with my regular pp, @Maninblack4612 and his friend at an open at South Shields today. It was blowing a gale which made it tricky, no hiding on that course. Course was in excellent condition, the greens in particular. If anyone is tempted, it's a great time to play there.

Very pleased with how I played overall. Not everything was right but there were some definite positives. Irons and short game were particularly pleasing. My long, second shots were poor. I seem to have lost that shot at the moment 😞. I should have asked MiB for a lesson, he was hitting his 3 wood off the deck like a dream 😍.

40 points, very pleased. In that wind, we worked hard for it. Excellent company, excellent day 😊

Yes, it was difficult, there's not much shelter. You hit some very good tee shots, long ones off tight lies are the hardest. Was reasonably pleased with my game after expecting not much but failing to complete the 18th for the third concecutive time is not the way I want to finish a round. It's in my head now & will take a lot of shaking out. Good company & it stayed dry.

Three of us had a game today.
We were stuck behind a Ladies' Rollup and two small societies.
4hrs 25mins it took us .................... and it bothered us not a jot!
4½ with my mates, on a golf course, shorts and polos, gorgeous sunshine, mid October, cold beer after.
Jeez guys, what's the rush?
If you're able, just take your time, be grateful and just enjoy.
My golf?
Well, it was utter crap, but some things are just more important.

That’s gout that be 🙄

Just one of those days today. Started very early (7:40) with my 19 hcap mate, no warm-up, but still was swinging fairly well on the front nine. However I was very poor on the greens as they were very slow and I kept leaving it miles short. By half way I only had one par, seven bogeys and a double, but was one up in the match at least.

Back nine I threatened to go up a gear with a superb birdie on the SI1 12th - perfect drive, hit green with a 6 iron and sank a 20-footer. But of course I followed that with double, bogey, double, triple. Completely useless. In fairness on the 16th I absolutely striped my drive and it went in a ditch that I usually don't reach, so even good shots were being punished. Lost the match 2&1 in the end with a bogey on 17th, then had a nice par on the 18th that normally causes me trouble. Only the third par of the day.

Shot 86 for 28 points. Very annoying day where I felt like I was swinging fairly well but everything that could go wrong went wrong.

Played with a very sore back, crazy but that is what golfers do.

17 points going out, took pain killers for the back nine and another 17 points for 34 points total.

Now a rest till Wednesday.

4BBB stableford this week (month long doubles comps with the top 2 each week going into the final). We played brilliantly, I had 3 birdies and my mate had 5 (both birdied the last par 5) and we didn’t drop a shot so we shot a gross 65 for 43 points.

Not enough wind today though so even although we have played great I doubt it will be enough for top 2 as I’m expecting 46 at least to win it.

Also interesting that we both scored on 9 holes but neither of us have a score on England Golf.

One of our esoteric competitions today - the Knightmare Pairs (6 holes Greensomes, 6 holes Foursomes and 6 holes 4BBB, mens tees but Ladies card). Did ok and in the hunt, but my PP missed a short putt - and I mean short. Just 6 a inch putt, and he left it short ...

If we miss out by 1 point, he might have to remove a putter from somewhere delicate.

Perhaps you will by tomorrow - or maybe you won't.

First round in a Couple of weeks and a delightful morning taking Mrs M out for her 2nd ever round.

Off the tee (par 4s & 5s) my long game was in a different post code, the ultimate push fade starting right and cutting further right it was so far off line I was always in a fairway with a shot at the green, they just weren’t my fairways 🤣!

Having previously been a yellow ball snob as in I’d refuse to use one! I put the PXG Xtreme Tour Yellows into play today, my god what a ball. Launched off the driver like a rocket sadly I was so wayward with it ! Irons were solid though, definitely a gain in distance with the ball but with good launch and loads of spin, 5th hole was a 190yd Par 3, took a 6iron 😮carried to back edge of green one hop and stopped dead. Same with the wedges lovely flight and instant response on full, half and chip shots. Really good off the putter as well I’m absolutely sold on the ball for its performance and the yellow was so easily identifiable in the air and on the ground even with plenty of leaves about. Overall apart driving being sloppy got round in 4 over par should be another small cut due to the course rating and knocking off an old round.

However highlight of the day for me was, Mrs M an absolute revelation solid start hitting some decent shots, few holes in was really starting to get the hang of short irons and is developing how to play the short game, her driving was really solid and she loves hitting her Hybrids. Highlight was 8th hole 160yards. Hit a solid tee shot but missed green right and bounced off down the hill, hit her best ever SW up over the ditch to the elevated green to about 30feet, then went and drained her putt for her first ever Par , biggest delight for her there was I made bogey so she beat me😊!. Lots of smiles and the good shots definitely outweighed the bad for rest of her round, in her 2nd ever round she shot a 94. Im unbelievably proud of her and she’s really enjoying it and has said she’s ready to go play with a couple of girls from her work on her own one weekend ❤️.

Last time in a 4BBB comp the score appeared on my EG record instantly. Maybe this time it’s different or maybe it thinks neither of us had over 36 points when it applies the made up score on the other holes.
Happened to me on the 4th Sept and I did not know until the next day. I thought this was normal.
I made 26 on my nine scored holes - 4 net birdies, 2 birdies and an eagle for a holed-out wedge on a par-5.
My partner made 18 on his nine holes. 44 total for us and we won. He did not get a score differential, but I got a 2.6
But it might be as you say, neither of you goes over 36 points.
Although I was 4-under gross for my nine, my 2.6 equates to 2-over gross for 18 holes off our yellow tees, which is what we played from.
So I was given 6-over gross for my non-scored 9 holes. I thought about this the next day and what I might have scored if I had putted out on those nine holes - 3 over maybe.

Frustrating day. 36 points but such an up and down round. 8 pars but 3 blobs, 2 as a result of godawful shanks.

The round was encapsulated by the par 3 9th. There is a nearest the pin comp on that hole. Over 100 playing today, all putting a quid in, winner takes all.

I hit my tee shot to 90cm from the hole, then missed the putt for 2s money. Never mind, my PPs said, no one will get inside 3 feet. Then heard from a mate in the last group that someone had put their tee shot to 80cm.

Invitation Day this year we had 46 points, both scored on 9 holes. I holed everything out that day, put all my scores in and the computer gave me a 75 when I had shot 72. Both of our scores appeared on EG instantly which I was surprised by, I thought they wouldn’t go on until midnight.
