I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Indoor Trackman "game" at the club with a mate, playing Wentworth.
One of the pros popped in to check we we're okay and watched my drive. And then fixed my drive (to a degree!) with a really simple tip.
I was nowhere near 'tilted' enough, so he got my to address the ball, grip the driver with my left hand. Right arm down by my side and my right hand touching my pocket. Then drop my right shoulder so my hand touches my knee. The grip the club with my right hand.
My God, it's weird! But my God, it stopped the carve to the right!
Work over winter now set!
I have been doing this and it works very well. But the distance I lose is shocking. with the exception of one drive. Everyone went straight down the middle. And that for me is unheard off. The exaggerated tilt seems to stop me getting any turn and although now straight there just seems no power.

Plenty of videos out there on set up. Wonder if the tilt is too exaggerated?

I'd have thought you get more carry as it encourages hitting up on the ball. I'm also trying to get more tilt in my driver set-up - it does seem to reduce the number of slices, but not eliminate them completely.

The problem Is Homer that with you left arm straight it causes the tilt when you move your right arm across. As Bratty has said. It really is weird. Yesterday stood on three tees that have killed me in the past off whites. Everyone straight down the middle.
On the first hole I thought I had mullered it. I couldn’t find it coz I had walked straight past ad I was talking to a PP. It was 20 yds behind me 😳

Could the winter conditions and colder air be affecting distance?

The problem was, it did gain height but as soon as it hit the grass. Plop. No run. Be interesting to of seen what would happen on a dry course.

Surely that's just a winter issue now the courses are damp? More carry is obviously going to be your friend. Maybe depends what loft your driver is though - since I got my new one I've gone down to 9.5° so I need to hit up on it a bit. If you were using a 12° say, it might not work out as well.

You know what. You could be onto something as my driver angle was set up for my old rammel swing 🤔👍

I shot 2 over par today 74 gross nett 70, came 9th in the comp with 71 players, it was our Monthly Medal.

Winner off a 24 handicap had a nett 67, next 8 players were 12-22 handicap.

Could so easily be putting this in golf random irritations. Last medal of the year and the course is playing extremely long due to the very soft ground. Went out in two under and was in cruise control. Should have been four under but missed a 3 foot birdie putt and also failed to get up and down from just off the green on the 2nd hole. A bogey on the stroke 1 hole saw me one under after 14 holes. I then managed to drop 4 shots over the last four holes 🤬😢. Played to my handicap so not all bad, but have a lower score dropping off WHS so may go up 0.1 🤣

Ind Stab today, lovely weather again😱 Played OK, but ruined by 2 bad tee shots and taking 3 off the tee both times. 33 points.

Saturday roll up. My first 18 holes since 14th September, and with a very painful knee into the bargain following a chipping practice session yesterday. Played off our front tees my CH is 6 🙄.

Anyway knocked it round in 76 so 4 over par and 38pts. Didn’t win anything but that’s fine as the knock was highly satisfying - one of these rounds where I holed a couple of 1 in 10 putts, but also blew shots on two or three holes where 9 out of 10 I wouldn’t have - so the outrageous pluses balanced off the sillinesses. A pleasing day.

Turned up at the swindle today with no cash. Joked, "I better win something then!"

Came in second and won a nearest the pin :) Makes it feel even better if you don't pay in and just get paid out

Played Heaton Park today for the first time in 6 months. Not in bad nick. I finally managed to get 3 birdies in the same round for the first time ever. Had two loads of times. Scored 81 overall with just 27 putts. 18hcp so well better than an average round.

Beautiful weather this morning - sunshine the entire way round. Golf-wise I had one of those days where I felt like I played very well, but the score didn't really reflect that. After 15 holes I'd 2-pointed 13 of them, but sadly blobbed the other two, then finished blob (inexplicable lost ball), 3-pointer, 1-pointer for a final total of 30. The rough was very long and wet, and whilst putting well I had three or four that shaved edges too, so right on the cusp of a good round, just a couple of errors and bits of bad luck. Driving was good for a change, only one real slice - of course it was on the hole where the head pro and captain waved us through. 😂

Beat my mate in the match though, he claimed he was hungover but I'm not interested in excuses - 4&3 the final score.

Lots of positives, but also a little demoralising that as we head firmly into winter golf, I can see I'm going to have to play exceptionally well to get any kind of reasonable score from now on.

Monthly Stableford today...course was busy.
When we teed off at 11.30 there were 4 groups waiting behind us.
A 2 ball in front of us and a 3 in front of them.....
The 2 ball..
A...barely hit a fairway all the way round..they spoke on the tee and the green otherwise they were 70 yards apart..
B..never got close to the 3 ball
C. Walked so slowly..I tried matching their speed and nearly fell over..
D. Walked off after 16....so they weren't even in the comp.

We almost spent as much time standing still as we did walking
My joints are screaming for mecy and tightening up as I type..

The golf was average at best...not a good front 9..13 points and loads of really really nice breaks....
Good back 9 of 19 points but the Index is on the rise...0.6 up to 6.2.
Each division is going to be won with 40 or more points...little wind and soft greens = good scoring.
Fragger a little better with 34 ..God I wish I could have that many shots just once......
More tomorrow...if I can move which is by no means a certainty right now....

Played in a sixes comp today, one from three on holes 1 to 6, 2 scores from 3 on the next 6 and all 3 on the final 6.
Didn't play well at all having not played last weekend - course is already looking muddy in places.

Picked the youth up on the way home - he's played 25 ish holes at Huddersfield and his summer golf shoes looked pristine. He'd have had trench foot if he'd worn them where I play... 🤣
