Stableford today and undoubtedly the best I have played since the start of the season. First counting card since April.

Tee to green was very good, in no trouble at all, but could barely hole a putt, I had 5 3 putts…..might have to try this Aimpoint malarkey.

Was round in 77, for the easiest 8 over I can think of and it could have been so much better as on 4 of the 3 putts the 2nd putt lipped out.

Monthly Stableford today...course was busy.
When we teed off at 11.30 there were 4 groups waiting behind us.
A 2 ball in front of us and a 3 in front of them.....
The 2 ball..
A...barely hit a fairway all the way round..they spoke on the tee and the green otherwise they were 70 yards apart..
B..never got close to the 3 ball
C. Walked so slowly..I tried matching their speed and nearly fell over..
D. Walked off after 16....so they weren't even in the comp.

We almost spent as much time standing still as we did walking
My joints are screaming for mecy and tightening up as I type..

The golf was average at best...not a good front 9..13 points and loads of really really nice breaks....
Good back 9 of 19 points but the Index is on the rise...0.6 up to 6.2.
Each division is going to be won with 40 or more points...little wind and soft greens = good scoring.
Fragger a little better with 34 ..God I wish I could have that many shots just once......
More tomorrow...if I can move which is by no means a certainty right now....
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner 😎

Been a decent weekend of golf

Lovely short weather across both days

Saturday

Club match - giving 8 and 9 shots respectively whilst my playing partner got 10

Lost the first with them getting a shot

I then decided to birdie - 2, 3 , 4 , 5 and 6 to be 4 up after 6 - pp won 2 of the next 3 for us to be 6 up after 9 , a half on 10 ( boooooo ) but a win on 11 and 12 gave us a nice 8&6 win - team overall won 4 1/2 to 1 1/2

Managed to finish the round 4 under

Today swindle - feeling a touch tired but squeezed out a level par round for 36 points

Just the 12 points behind the winner

48 points in an individual comp 😂

Played Sat & Sun as a single going out well after and behind a 2 day comp, so no expectations of pacey rounds
3;44 on Saturday so plenty of waiting around for 33pts
2.04 Sunday, millionaire golf the whole way but 2 shots worse (double stroke pen on 14th) Which I'll take since the course was set up a good bit tougher for the 2nd day of the comp

PH here on Thurs so a 7am tee booked & (hopefully) finished while you lot are still Zzz'ding

Played Saturday in the weekly stableford.
16 points at the turn, had a six on the third (incl. a penalty for an unplayable), but all the rest were 4s and 5s.
5 points coming back, incl. four sevens and an eight.
Bloody game.

Play at Sand Moor today, which I prefer to its more illustrious neighbours Moortown and Alwoodley, the course was in excellent conditions, very dry and the green were good, although there were 3 holes closed due to drainage work.
I mostly played well apart from a couple of 3 putts and also a couple of bad irons from nice positions

Managed to squeeze 18 in early this morning, not quite as nice a day as yesterday weather wise and there was a stiff breeze too. Not quite the same ball striking as yesterday, but scored 1 better for a 76.

2 very different ways of getting it round though.

Was lucky enough to get a freebie at Bush Hill Park today - my mate won it in a team event at our club - I wasn't on his team but someone who was pulled out injured so I was invited to take his place! It was a bit rainy but warm. Course was quite muddy in places but some interesting holes. A short course but some annoyingly long walks from greens to the next tee.

My front nine was pretty good. Recovered from blobbing the par 5 6th (thanks to a trademark enormously sliced drive) with three straight pars for a 17 point front nine. Struggled more on the back nine. Blobbed the 10th, another par 5, after some bunker trouble. There were several holes near the end where we had no idea where to hit off the tee - definitely a course you'd play better the second time once you know where to go. Had a couple of doubles caused by missing greens and leaving myself a chip out of wet grass and mud over a bunker. So only mustered 13 points on the back nine in the end.

Beat my mate 2&1 in the match the though - two wins over him in two days. 😁 My strong front nine had me 2 up, he levelled it up after 10 & 11 and he took the lead after the 14th, but I won 15, 16 & 17 to take the victory.

Swindle this morning. Shot 33 points with 3 blobs, and 4 putts that stopped like half a turn from the hole (not the blobs holes)

Another nearest the pin win, that's 4 in 4 rounds :D

Walked the first 11 yesterday at Huddersfield with Jamie - last weeks lesson on getting more power out of his irons already showing it's merits - that has definitely been the weak area of his game over the summer so hopefully he can fully implement some positive changes into his game over the winter - grow an inch or so, and be ready to shave a few more shots off his handicap next year.

Have to say as well - the dry Autumn makes a welcome change to seeing soggy leaves all over the ground - let's hope it continues for as along as possible - it was stunning round Fixby yesterday with all the autumnal colours. (y)

Early round today, rocked up hungover ready for abit of fresh air only to hear the other lads were putting a card in so I thought I’d get in on the action.

Drove it high and right (really struggling at the moment with the driver) and when I got to the ball I realised I am q 4,5 and 7 iron short… don’t ask - definitely the hangover and rushing to get ready.

End up making a hash of it in the trees and thinking it was going to be a long round.

After blobbing the 1st I came in with 34pts after some shocking putting (5 within 2 ft missed)

Over the moon with that as I am only a couple of weeks in to swing changes and the irons were top quality… probably only one shot I weren’t happy with the result.

Good to see the improvements paying off.

Driver wasn’t working today and still waiting for my new woods to arrive - yes, I know I shouldn’t have sold the old ones before…

Lowest lofted iron is 6 iron, so used it off every par 4/5 tee and managed a decent score and didn’t spend half my round looking under leaves in the semi rough.

The gapping session I had recently takes all debate out of club selection and will genuinely lower my handicap over the next few months.

But need fairway woods…

Awful front nine, bad enough to make me question why I even bother with this game. Practiced so much this year only to get worse and worse. The crap started on the 4th - way too much club for my approach and thinned it 20 yards through the back in an awful lie - triple bogey there. Sliced driver out of bounds on the 5th. Another awful slice on 7th and an unsuccessful chip out of trees. Knifed third shot through the back of the 8th. Just farcical rubbish that makes it look like I haven't played in six months.

Back nine was an improvement. Hit the flag with a lofted chip on the 10th - still hit the worst slice of the day with driver on 11th, but better drives on the 12th and 13th finally. Ended up parring 13, 16 & 17 and making a respectable back nine score of 18 points. Added to the 11 on the front nine making a disappointing 29.

Driving still murdering me. I have a round where it's getting somewhere and then right back to being bloody awful the next. I think I've got multiple issues to be honest, either my hands come through first and I block it right, or I come over the top, or sometimes it's both. Just beyond a joke now.

The quest for 18 handicap continues.
