I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

I was going to offer you £50 for it but those last darned 5 holes have just put a 1 in front of it now 🤬 😄
I screwed up and put a slightly larger grip on the ER2 when I changed last time.....need to go to a slightly smaller grip. Still a good putter, although I think I need to sell my old Ping Fetch (version 1) and my utterly disappointing experiment with a side saddle putter. Probably try some heavier weights in the square 2 square #7 as well. Probably back to the Square 2 Square for tomorrows round.

Actually played decent this morning after a couple of iffy rounds.

Was a better ball with mates so a good laugh but still taken quite seriously as it was a money game.

We smashed them 4&3, was never as close as that sounds, to take the cash and extend bragging rights for another fortnight at least.

Driving the ball well, irons were actually playing ball this week with a return to solid striking. But after a big dip in putting form that was back to where it was, no three putts and a load of singles in there too.

Popped out for 9 holes earlier, course was empty, the sun was shining and it was warm…..shorts and polo weather…….champagne golfing.

Reasonably steady +3 for the 9, with a double on the 4th after messing around in the trees. Birdied our par 5 9th, after hitting driver then 9 iron to the back of the green and a tricky 2 putt.

Have seen a big improvement with driver over the last few weeks after making a bit of a change and feeling like I keep the face closed on the way back….seems to have straightened the ball flight significantly.

Also had a little play with the Eureka swing with some irons, didn’t feel too bad and contact felt nice with a decent divot. Might give it a whirl at the range this week and see what I think.

Greensomes comp today with my 11 handicap mate. We started off pretty decent with six pars and six bogeys in the first twelve holes. But it all went downhill after that. The wind started getting ridiculous, I felt knackered after a late night and losing an hour's sleep and my mate said he was in the same boat. Our thirteenth hole was the par 5 8th and we were both powerless in the left to right gale and couldn't get a drive in play, so ended up with a blob there which completely deflated us. Parred the 9th, but our tiredness meant we were both hacking and duffing our way round after that. Blobbed our second-to-last hole (12th) as well. Each missed very presentable par putts on the holes either side of that too.

Ended up with a pretty disappointing 32 points, firmly in lower-midtable and well adrift of the winners who got 41. From 25 points after twelve it was a shame we capitulated somewhat, but we're both cack at playing in with our fades and we were both so knackered we could hardly swing a club at the end.

1st 4somes scratch match of the year today. Won on the last. Singles this afternoon not so good and lost 4/2. Wind was blowing and freezing for most of the day. We were away and greens were a bit woolly but it is still March. At least the new season is up and running.

My wife was out for dinner with her family, I teed off at 4:20 and managed to get 18 holes in, in 2h30. No idea what I shot, but I did make two lovely birdies, one of which was a kick in after nearly holing out for an eagle.

Took the opportunity of the first longer day and the fantastic (if windy) weather to play Brampton this evening with my son. The course was playing slightly shorter because it's the last week of tee mats (good quality, no problems). It played brilliantly and the gorse was out so an abundance of yellow swathes and that coconut aroma. It'll be even better in a couple of weeks when the trees get leaves. A truly lovely place to play a fine braid course👍

So the green winter tees have gone and we are back on normal tees. Me and a PP decided to play our fuddle KO today. Running alongside the Stableford fuddle. Bottom line I won the KO 7-5. Another PP marking the fuddle comp score card mentioned I had 20 points on the front nine which shocked me playing off the whites.
Bottom line, am kinda torn. My game was rammel up to 2 months ago. But since then I have won £183.50 since the start of the year. Before I found my swing I was adamant I was playing off the yellows as I could not get my drives away and It looked the easiest way to get my handicap down. It’s not about the money in any way shape or form. When me and a PP finished work. There was one shot between us. Now there is 8.
However since my game is kinda back am torn, is it whites or yellows. Other fuddle guys are bogged off coz I wanted to play off the yellows. Our fuddle is aged from 40s-mid 70’s and they don’t understand that not everyone can hit it 200 yds straight. One guy who is vocal about playing off whites. Plays off yellows at the weekend.

Bloody game.

I play in a small rollup where a couple of guys insist on playing from the whites....I don't get it. I don't mind playing from the whites, but yellow is fine.....and heck, just for the fun of it why not the reds once in a while just to change things up? One of the reasons it is a smalllllll rollup is because short hitters don't like playing off the whites.....and I'm getting closer and closer to that time with age.

Our weekend roll up plays off the white from March-October (or as late as conditions allow) and then yellow off the whites. Everyone knows how it works and never have any moaning. I guess that is why we have white and yellow handicaps. 24 last weekend so must be doing something right

My club has decided to close the white tees mon/ Thursday inc.

I have always played the whites 6400 yds .
But off the yellows all the bunkers are in play and I get two less shots.😳
