I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

My EG graph still looks like a roller coaster
Last 3 rounds 39 points 31 points 41 points.

The last round was an a roller coaster in it's own right at the start of the round par, par, triple bogey, par, triple bogey.

Things are looking up only one 3 putt and 6 up and downs in 2 for par. Still no birdies.

Looked at my handicap.
January 2024 13.8
March 2025 7.6
Amazing to see, after all the trials and tribulations and things that you've tried over the years, you've finally found something that works. Gives us all hope. 😁

Like Gary said, it would be cool to see a new video of how you're swinging it these days.

Might get something recorded next week when it is lighter longer. Not sure I will be bothered to do the whole channel thing again.

Got some new toric contact lenses (haven’t worn contacts for years - have astigmatism and didn’t even know you could correct this with lenses until mentioned by optician at recent appointment). Fitted on Saturday but had 9 holes booked straight after. Optician did say that I would have to adapt to wearing lenses generally, eyes would be watery for an hour or two and that focus and depth perception would be a bit different to what I’m used to and take a few days to get used to. Anyway I ignored all that and went straight to the course…

… turns out he was right. Somehow only 2 over after first 2 holes but after a 10 on the par5 3rd and an 8 on the par4 4th I decided this wasn’t the day to be keeping score 🤣. Golf is hard enough anyway but it’s harder when your eyes/brain are telling you that the ball is in a slightly different position to your other senses 🙈.
Why do we ignore the advice of experts ?
One of the mysteries of life.😂

First time I ever wore glasses it was like walking on the moon.
Fell of the kerb twice.😳

Surprised just twice, first thing you’d notice on any lunar jaunt is the shocking state of the public footpaths... and the potholes! don't get me started ;)

Quite how I managed to walk off with a score of 31 points will remain a mystery far into the mists of time......
Absolute rat poo.......

That is all...

Yesterday was the last day we will play the shortened course at our place this year.

Played with my mate and my nephew. 3 way catch the leader. It went down the last and ended all sqaure.

I like the format. You are solely concentrating on trying to win each hole. I managed to shoot one of my best rounds for a while +2 and was completely unaware of this while I was playing. It was only on the drive home I totted up the score in my head.

First time I wore my reading glasses I tried to walk down stairs with them on and nearly fell down the stairs. That was 3 years ago and now I can wear those glasses all the time and everything looks normal. My new reading glasses give me the falling down sensation though.

Really hate having to wear glasses to see my damn phone now, getting old sucks.

A county seniors meet at Parkstone today. A couple of ropey tee shots with driver (left pull hooks) but generally good from tee to green. Lots of birdie chances but couldn’t hole a thing due to the greens hollow tining that was done a couple of weeks ago. Fairly fast and bumpy greens is not a good combination. Still a very enjoyable day though.

County seniors comp at Luffenham Heath today. 43 entrants and in exact handicap order I was ranked 26th - so in the bottom half of the field.
Gross score put me equal 18th. Not bad.
A thoroughly mediocre 36 points off handicap put me equal 13th place in that.

Nice weather and enjoyed a good course. Non qualifying as tees were shoved-forward winter tees not a measured course. Placing on closely mown.
Good to see Doublebogey7 out on the course as the rules official.

In the bag
Cobra F-Speed driver and 3-wood
Cobra Bafller 16° and 20° hybrids
Ping G10 3&4 rons
Ping Eye2 BeCu 5-PW (PW is 50°)
Cleveland Classics 691 58°W
Ben Sayers Opel Line One putter

Only one shot with the 3-wood and no shots at all with the hybrids.

Long weekend away. Bonar Bridge on Saturday, a lot of fun for £15. Reay yesterday, the most northern 18 hole course on mainland UK, absolutely fabulous track. Really enjoyed it, very windy but mostly dry, some really good par 3’s including the first at 227 yds, and a beast of a par 5 at 566 yards, both into a 30 mph wind.

Today we played Fortrose & Rosemarkie, another excellent track. Big wind again, absolutely battered us, beautiful course but nasty in that wind.
