Had the pleasure of playing Huntercombe today. What a stunning course with some of the craziest greens I've ever played on.

Played 36 holes, the morning round was very good, 34 points with 2 birdies and 3 blobs.

I think my lunch was spiked though as I came out for the second round playing as though I've never held a golf club before! Somehow managed to scrape together 11 points after 9 and then finished bogey, par, par to get 26 points overall.

Managed to win the longest drive which was nice 💪🏻

My good run of form continued today in the semi final of our 4BBB knockout, I was giving both our opponents 6 shots and my partner 15, this meant I would be giving both opponents 3 shots in the first 5 holes due to our SIs, my partner although a steady player does not hit the ball anywhere near as far as me or our opponents, but she played very well for the first 6 or 7 holes and we came off 7 2 up, I then took over and parred 7 of the next 8 holes and we ran out winners 4&3. It was a good team performance and it is nice to be in the final.

Mixed 4BBB at Beau Desert on Wednesday. We played with a lovely couple, she was off 3. So I watched her game a lot. The wife was only 5 meters back from her off the tee, and sometimes ahead, but the lady off 3, her short game was amazing. We did ok, well I did, the wife just couldn't get going. I normally fade back nine and did so, but the wifes game just was lost somewhere. We had two four point holes. Oddly, me on stroke index 1, and the wife with her first EVER 2 !!! So she was chuffed to bits with that.
The course was superb. The organisation excellent. The weather wonderful (rain my eye). The rough was wispy long grass that makes you think you can get out and reach the green. Top tip, NO YOU CAN'T! Play sideways! The food afterwards was lovely. The staff in the bar were friendly and efficient. What a lovely place to play!
Where did we finish? We weren't last! I think we will have another go next year.
Next up.....St Annes Old Links.

Had 3 lovely days playing links this week in competition at enniscrone, then up to county sligo and finished at carne.
Drove down 3 hours, bite of breakfast and teed off at 9.30 at enniscrone. Played some great stuff. Triple bogey on the par 3 3rd didn't derail me and I got the 18th tee 1 over par. Drove into the fairway bunker and racked up a double. Came 3rd over all on the day. Par would have won it.
Had a heavy nights drinking after that and didn't really get it going at sligo. The greens were much firmer and it was very easy to make bogey, the pars were harder to come back. 14 over. Few too many blow up holes.
Onto carne the next day to finish. Played a differnt back 9 to last year. They have 27 holes there so was nice to see the rest of the holes. Slow start with a triple on the 2nd hole. Finished 10 over which wasn't bad in the tricky wind.
Overall a great trip and an unexpected cut to the handicap. Happy man. 😊

Yeah. Got super lucky with the weather. Packed for 3 days of rain. Didn't have to put the brolly up once on the big courses.
The only time it rained was the evening of day 1 when we played the pitch and putt up the road from the hotel. We called that after 10 holes.

Played a fun 4 ball scramble off blues then whites then reds. Finished gross 6 under. I've never putted better - knocked them in from all distances, couldn't believe it.

Me and the Fragster departed the 1st at Sparrowphart to try and beat the weather and the Ladies Club Championship....
Just about managed both - a couple of sharp showers otherwise just breezy.
I was pretty solid most of the way round...starting on 10 with a nice 2 and walking off 18 with 18 points.
We didn't put cards in as we wanted the ability to stop if the weather deteriorated
16 on the "front" 9 and a respectable 34 points given the worsening conditions...
Fragger was, well, Fragger.....not quite as good as my mate Andy (31 with 7 blobs) but 29 with 5 blobs is showing promise....

The rounds on Thursday were entered as handicap cards but there seems to be a glitch and they aren't showing.
EG is chasing us to enter scores but the cards are in the box and nobody will be able to sort it until Monday
Technology eh?
Great when it works.....

Worst round of the year in today’s comp. 83 (+11) but what was annoying was my putting cost me pretty much all of those 11 shots. It was abysmal.
Off the tee was solid, irons were decent enough to find greens but putter in hand I was clueless.

Horrible weather too didn’t help the mood much.

Captains Day today. Big mix up on my start time, which I won't go into. Started ok. Then the heavens opened on the third, fourth, fifth greens flooding. Heard a klaxon on five as the sun came out. Eh? We rang in. That was to signal to re-start!!!!!! We didn't hear the first one. My round was shot to pieces, so was having a laugh lashing it all over the place. One in our three ball was going ok so we plodded on. Steady drizzle on and off to the ninth. Beer and sausage rolls with Captain. Off we go to 10th. Bloke going ok sliced in to river. Other one hooked left behind a tree. I hammered a scorcher down the middle close to where river crosses the fairway. PARRRRRRRRRRRP ! Klaxon goes off. We look up. OOOOOOOO it was black. In we walked. OMG did it come down! Greens flooded again. Everyone came in. After about an hour it was called off. We are to do it again on the 10th Sept, hopefully in better conditions.

Black tee comp today, hit it ok, but made a fee mistakes that cost me. On the plus side we got round dry, as we were sitting in the bar, went black, thunder and lightning and lashing it down. Playing once a week with no practice isn't going to keep me at 2 for very long🤣

A mixed foursome tie, weather was a bit better than expected a few heavy showers. Managed to get lucky with a couple of birdies on the back nine to win after being four down.

Found it really tough in a very strong swirling wind today. 4 over my PH was not too bad given I left 3 or 4 out there as my short game was poor. That said one of my mates was 8 under his handicap so not everyone found the conditions tough.

Presidents medal today

2 under front 9 with a couple of good birdies and some solid par saves

Then a mini monsoon arrived and dropped 4 shots in 3 holes and finished 2 over 😩

Had a very similar thing today.
I kept thinking the greens would slow up in the rain but they didn’t.
