im an 18 hc and can play better or worse than that on a fairly inconsistent basis
I was in leicester and stayed at Greetham Valley (thanks to those on here who recommended it)
I played the Lakes Course first off the yellow mind and shot a scratch 81 off a par 72, i thought i had played the round of my life.

I decided to graba quick bite to eat and go out again this time on the Valley course, this time i shot a 80 off a par 68 with three 7s on the card.

I won the sunday sweep by a ridiculous score Scratch 80 of par 68 when everyone else is coming in with 3 or 4 strokes above their handicap.

i was getting the bandit chat etc

i played twice this weekend and couldnt hit a coo on the erse with a banjo, now the sweep think im sandbagging lol.

I have a break 80 target and im determined to do it.

I dont want to get called all the names under the sun so how can i go about this without looking like a cheat, can you speak to your handicap committee and ask for a voluntary cut?

What you need to do is tell the club that you are going to put in a supplimentary card,
Tell them before your round, get someone else to mark it and put it in, they should take note of it now the rules have changed.

What you cant do is play a round and put the card in as an afterthought, tell them in advance.

Once your handicap adjusts, nobody will be making Sombrero jibes

Good luck

I'm a bit like you Joma.

If I don't play a lot I suffer, but give me a good run and if I'm on form I can card a net score in the md 50's.

I'll get my mask.....

You can put supp cards in at any time, or you can play in comps, same effect, so long as your handicap reflects your playing ability it doesnt really matter how it is done

Ha i know what you mean, i started at 28 last year and there was a six week spell where it fell 11 shots actually got down to 17 but then it broke and i crept back up to 18, feeling really confident about this year though

Its called jealousy. They have played badly and resent you because you've put a couple of tidy rounds together. It happens. Once they win the sweep pot they won't care and of course if they get the same tag I'm sure they'll have every excuse under the sun. My advice is to play as many official comps as you can. That'll catch up with your handicap if you play well and you can then argue your scores are legit (not that they aren't but you get my drift) as your handicap is the truest reflection of your ability.

On the other hand, if you win our Saturday roll up you get cut two shots from whatever handicap you were on (club or roll up) for three weeks. Come second and you lose a shot for a week.

I wouldnt worry too much about the bandit term, it is very rare someone comes down by .4/3/2/1 at a time, most people will have a really good round and come down by a full shot or more.

I shot 83 on sunday and my 2 mates that I played with said I was a bandit, only shot 2 under my handicap, my reply was well if you both would have kept ya heads and not played idiotic shots you would have been level with me. They both just turned round and went yeah suppose so you just played the most consistent out of us. Be proud of what you shot not what people may call you. You know in your head whether you had a really good round or left shots out there so just let the scorecards do the talking as for every good round theres always a bad one waiting to bite you on the arse.
