A spurk mat.

Newport is going on fairway mats from 1st Nov. The ones they've bought to use look awful, so bought my own.
Is that a short or long pile one? Either way, they are the 'bees knees' and easily the best mat available. However, they can be a bit messy if you don't have the storage bag.

Short pile. I didn't actually realise there was alternative till after!

But it resembles a driving range mat or nice tight links turf.... so it'll be interesting to see what its like on Monday when it gets used.
I used mine today even though the mandate for using them doesn't kick in until Monday. It was a joy, summer golf in November.

Exciting day for me. Bought a new set of irons, Cleveland Halo XL. They are a bit different, look up the reviews online. My regular pp bought some earlier this year and they have made a big difference to his game. I've had a few hits with his and they are so easy to hit it's ridiculous. Instant height, good distance. I've even got them with seniors, graphite shafts 😳. Future proofing 😉

To make things even better, I've been following a set for a week or so on GC4C, went to pull the trigger this morning, and discovered they are giving 15% off for BF. Very happy 😊

More people should be using them.

Taylormade QI10 Hybrid #4. Ex demo from our pro. £140. Didn’t look like it had been hit.
Apparently a job lot including drivers & fairways that were used at a Rolex golf day.
Borrowed one for the comp today and bought it straight off the 18th green.

I booked a LAB putter fitting on the back of a half price fitting fee offer, as the biggest LAB set up outside of the US (Scottsdale).

I thought £125 (full price) was bonkers and still half of that is bonkers, but it's a morning spent doing something I will find interesting. Session is 1.5 hours.

Obviously, as ever, fitting fee is haggled off the price of new gear, but can't actually see me ending up with one.

But with me, who knows

You spent £60+ on a fitting and you're not even sure you want the product?? 😳

I don't see that as odd

Golf equipment is about how it performs, not how it looks, so how do you know how it performs (for you) unless you try it? Trying it, under the best conditions, will save ordering one online, hating it and flogging it for a loss much greater than the fitting cost.

Plus, it's a fun morning out.

I used to buy clubs for £60 not fittings. 😂 It's a lot, that's all! My driver fitting was £30 but again, it comes off the final purchase and I was very likely to purchase one.

Times have moved on sadly in terms of cost  and I do wonder how they justify the £125 full price. I think that’s half the attraction for me.

I did buy a Callaway Epic 7 wood today for £60 to tide me over until my new one arrives. I’ll get that back for it and just love experimenting with stuff.
