Thursday I hit 79 gross, 42 points for 3rd place on count back 1 point of joint 1st (would of won on countback).

Friday, Texas scramble lots of good shots joint 3rd on count back, one bogey away from joint 1st and winning on count back.

Then today, 99 gross in the medal!! Two quadruple bogeys in my first 6 holes ruined my round so I just gave up.

Mentally I don't think I was with it. I said to my wife yesterday that on Thursday morning I knew I was going to do well but I didn't feel the same about today.

I have a match play game Wednesday, my first ever, so how do I deal with my mind set for that now?

Sounds like you are thinking to much and letting bad holes get you down, in matchplay you need to immediately forget about the bad holes there is no difference between losing a hole with a quad bogey or with a par, its still just one hole lost.

Yes, I guess with stableford/matchplay one bad hole doesn't ruin or loose the round. But Thursday I could not miss a fairway, iron play spot on, chipping great and putted like a pro. I had 10 pars, not one double bogey. Today I played like a beginner :(

Can I blame ChrisD for giving me a DMD and using that put me off!! ;)

I've played 2 medals this week...

First one I was level par standing on the 9th tee, ended up shooting 12 over
Second one I was 1 over standing on the 9th tee, ended up shooting 15 over

No big deal, it happens... then we hook up a decent score and get all the 0.1's back again

I got mine back yesterday in the club champs of all days when the course was set up at its most brutal. I finished tied 5th for a place in the last 16 matchplay. The pendulum finally swung my way after weeks of it putting the boot in, only 0.3 cut but only 4 players finished net under.

It happens. The ball has no memory of the bad round so just forget today. Play the match as you would any other match with your mates and remember that you can get away with higher scores and still win providing you take one less than the opponent.

Repeat after me...

I shot 79 on Thursday, I haven't played since
I shot 79 on Thursday, I haven't played since
I shot 79 on Thursday, I haven't played since
