Seriously guys I am in shock, H.I.D just thinks its sad how much I spend. We have a joint account that I pay into and whatever I have left is up to me how I spend.
You can always do what a mate does and get things online and get it delivered to work.
Minty18, hope you dont call H.I.D that to her face!
I gave my old R5 to my mate who has the R7 cover, when we play we just swap the cover at the club house and change back at the end of the round. Its all good so far, I have it over 2 months so the new look has nearly gone, so I will be able to swap it over for good soon.
I like the idea of a extra £10 at the cash point, good plan. If only I could buy my new putter on via my business as a bit of IT equipment everything would be sweet
I am normally quite good at hiding new stuff.
- get the new stuff sent to your work address. If you use Ebay a paypal acount is useful as HID doesn't have access to it.
My new Footjoy rainjacket was 'discovered' the other day in a cupboard, explained my way out of that one quite well.
Wife's so used to me selling stuff on Ebay that there are so many parcels coming and going she can't keep track!
I'm trying to calm down on acquiring new gear but all that lovely 'golf stuff' is just so tempting isn't it?
Of course not she's a gorgeous princess to her face.
In all seriousness though I was going to buy a £55 golf bag last week, she came with me and said "why dont you buy the £66 one as it looks better?" I was surprised as she likes to watch the pennys.
I only need a lob wedge now and my bag is complete.
Whilst my wife is aware of all the new kit I get, I persuaded her to learn to play so she now recognises changes in my bag, I do use the old 'got this for a bargain price' or 'got a great trade in price on my old club' or, as with others, the new one is 'I am testing it for GM'. I really am a dishonest barsteward but then again I am a lawyer so most people expect it from me.
for a while she had no idea until a few weeks ago i gave my clubs a clean while she was at work, i left them in the spare room when i went to workand came back to her making funny faces, you can guess the rest
To be honest i dont think wifes or partners know how much we spend on clubs and kit well not many anyway.
If i was to show my wife my driver for example she would not have a clue to how much it cost. But would soon take a keen interest if i told her. Saying that she just lets me get on with it.
Recently my wife has been with me when I've been buying so she can't really complain. I have been asking her opinion and giving her my various options and at the end of the day the boredom grinds her down until she say "get what you want I don't really understand it all anyway"
RESULT!!!
Have to be fair though and say HID is an absolute godsend. She never moans about me playing both days at weekends and out several nights a week putting or hitting balls. If my clothes get wet or muddy they are straight int he machine as soon as I have out them in the washing basket. She has even been known to drive up and meet me coming off 18 with a bag of dry clothes when the weather has turned bad.
I really have a one in a million and I do love her with all my heart. She is my first thought in the morning and my last one at night
A very good post, this. I'm not sure I would 'smuggle' new kit in under the radar - she does all the bean counting. Besides, she would remove my plums with a blunt spoon within seconds of finding out!
Hello. New to the forum and enjoyed this thread. Have to say i am guilty of the odd white lie about the cost of clubs. My wife's retaliation is to insist on a new dress for every club I buy!
