As the title says. I have deliberatly not used the term wife as we have have female members on here as well.

At the risk of the Mrs finding this, here goes.

Shed loads of old cheap balls that I won't use as they're all to hard. Mizzy CLK 20 degree. Trolleybag rain cover.

Stuff that she did eventually find out about. Mizzy CLK 17 degree, more 'better' quality balls, Odessey No 7 putter, MPR 60 degree lob wedge, and I hope to be buying a MPR 52 deg wedge this week, don't know how I'm going to hide that as shes got very good at recognising the clubs in the bag.

I just thought that it would make a slight change from the limited balls / clubs topics that keep cropping up. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

In my case it should be things my wife knows about but thinks were much cheaper and more essential than they actually were

In this category:

Taylormade carry bag (already had two other bags)
Dozen TaylorMade Black balls
Dozen Callaway HX tour balls
Pair of Footjoy Dryjoys (2008 model)

She thought these were all essential purchases

Cleveland Hi Bore XLS 3 wood
Ping Anser putter
Odyssey Marxman putter

She thought I got these at substantially reduced prices. In truth I did get them for about 80% of RRP but she is under the impression they were half price

Oh well what she doesn't know can't hurt her

She knows everything. Without bragging my mrs is an absoulte angel now, she says I earn it so why should she dictate how I spend it?

Had a bit of trouble at first and had my own secret "jons jolly's" fund but things are sweet now.

As long as my daughter is comfortably provided for, the bills are paid and that the mrs gets her leisure budget all is well in my house.

The only thing I get stick about is my beer fund.

Too much to list over the years. Numerous putter and drivers. Then all the "Fad" clubs 1 iron, chipper clubs ect. Then we have a fair few wedges and pitching irons and all the hybrids I wanted to try.
And all kept in the garden shed, next to the garden tools and other tools where she will never look. I usually end up selling or giving half the stuff away anyway, so there is not much laying around. She just does not get it, I like to buy all the new clubs.
In all seriousness, she does know about most of it but just lets it go. I dont drink, smoke or have other expensive hobbies and I am fortunate enough to make enough at the moment to be able to comfortably afford the clubs. Anyway, she would spend the same amount on shoes in an eye blink.

She doesn't really bother me about buying new gear,as long as she gets something at the same time, however there is loads of b/day/xmas presents she bought me i've hidden what she thinks I use all the time, mostly in my locker at the club, notably lime green lyle and scott sweater,2 dozen maxfli noodle balls, those golf kit things with all the plasic tee's etc in

To be fair to her who must be obeyed, she just states

"what have you been buying now?"

when another parcel turns up in a golf club shaped box! The only real grief I got was with my latest purchase of Dryjoy reelfit shoes when I have four pairs in my cupboard including an unworn pair of hi-tecs which I tried to explain were a "summer pair"! That fell on deaf ears.

I get off lightly but then again I dont smoke or drink and dress like a tramp unless I'm golfing.

I have a Taylor Made R7 SuperQuad with my old R5 head cover which she doesnt know about but I am trying to get a new putter under the radar but its going to be tough as we are saving for our wedding in September, any ideas??

Titleist AP2 irons, she knew I was trying out a set of rac lt II's but couldnt use them, she knows ive had a few successes recently but thinks its down to me sticking to my original irons! :)

Would imagine all golfers have done this at some point.

I am fairly honest, but have bought a few things on the QT -like my £85 5 wood. On the other had now she has a hobby she spends loads more than I do on golf - so its hard for her to complain.

Ah, the use the old head cover trick. Think we've all been there done that.

As for your putter, draw an extra £10 out everytime you use a cash machine, after a few weeks you'll have enough for the new putter, and there won't be much of a trace on the funds being used. Don't pay by card, statements never lie!

As for hiding it, the old headcover trick is the obvious one. But we really want to show off the new stick in the bag. So do you hide the new headcover in the golf bag?

Is this devious? Almost certainly.
Is it really needed, maybe, maybe not.
But it's kinda fun!! In a masocistic way.

My better half (aye right) thinks I am using a driver I bought second hand for £50 three years ago (Cobra F-speed LD £200) She thought I broke even when I got shot of the Cobra CB's (lost £200+) My black Footjoy Aqualites changed into white and RED Adidas Powerband, then white and gold 360's and are now Reelfits and she has yet to say WHERES THE LACES GONE???

I have just bought the Caddy Lite she thinks I am testing for GM(at this point I have realised how dishonest I am) :o :o :o :o :o :o

And I pick up my new wedge on Thursday that she will never notice is NEW !!!!!

HOLD IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does any guy on here know how much THEY spend on shoes and 5hit?

:o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

SOLIDARITY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly. The day you need to justify buying yourself new gear is the day you trade her in for a newer model....

Not much gets past the wife, she can smell new kit even when I hide it in the garage.
She also sorts out all our finances so checks the Credit Card statement to see what I have been up to, need to start using cash more often.

lol using GM has to be a new one. My wife hates shopping, this should in theory make me happy, but inreality its a guilt trip when considering sneaking the latest peice of kit in.
