Do you know how far you carry each club ?

As per neild's post, I'd do this again, if he flushes two drop them, if he chunks two drop them, and then you should end up with a more accurate grouping.
why can't what he has done be correct. Everyone seems to doubt him because he was quite big off the tee? or am I missing something?

No doubt from me however it seems he is up there with Tour averages which always comes across as doubt.

The most important thing and what Oddsocks is saying is forget your long ones and the short ones and take an average of the most consistent ones.

Yup I know, it's shorter than it used to be as I play less and my swing isn't as good as it was.

It will come back and get better one day.

I'm also at least one club longer than regular golfers, if they take a 8 it's often a 7 or 6 for me

Not doubting the distances at all, just saying that you should take the distance that is hit most often and not necessarily the average from trackman. Make sure you delete the big shots and the duffs to get a consistent group.

also, for those who measure their distances on the course, how do you accurately determine where the ball lands to measure carry?🤔

Luckily with Irons I get little to no roll. So pretty simple. With the woods. Ill take a point in line with the point I see it land. Could be better ways. But I am not overly fussed about Driver. Fairway is Fairway. And as long as I know I can carry any hazards I don't care. If I can't carry the hazards, 3 Wood or Iron time.

Cant say i know my exact carry distance, but ive a fair idea how far i hit each club ..
Il adjust a bit for summer/winter etc

Depends on ur ability whether you actually have a repeatable exact yardage or not ..

I would say in general these things over state your distances as you are standing on a flat surface hitting the same club a few times in the real world, the surface is not flat and you hit 1 ball, so you will almost inevitably come away with averages that are slightly optimistic.

Hitting 4 iron 228 on a sim ok, but then a slightly uphill lie with sideslope is not going to produce such centred hits as often, something to consider

150 Yds:

Down hill, wind behind, PW
Flat, wind behind, 9 iron
Flat no wind, 8 iron
Flat wind in, 7 iron
Up hill, wind in, 6 iron
Up hill, strong wind in, 5 iron

Is all a guide and course, slope, weather conditions, how you are hitting it etc. as we all know will play their part on any given day

Those numbers are absolutely genuine and he has been to Golf Principles for club fitting (and Jason there) plus his teaching pro tell me he has tour swing speed/distance but being 6ft 6in is no hindrance when added to the flexibility of youth.

We actually did take out any lows/high (fat, chunks, pulled or hooks etc) but to be fair there were not many as he was very consistent.

We then also noted the min/max after the ignored shots which is also in the overall table so you have a perspective on the potential distance range assuming a reasonable shot.

Similar situation for me with the irons being one longer, most of my playing partners will hit say an 8i from a certain distance whereas I'll have to take a 7i...

Yes I was off 2 in my 30s but now I am 60 and my middle irons and wedges yardage are similar to my younger days But
i have found my driver and longer clubs are Defo shorter even with the technology these days .
Driver 250
3wood 225
4 iron 185.
7 iron 150
wedge 120
Approx 10 yds between irons but this is down to form and conditions.

Did a gapping session last year

Off the top of my head -
Carry plus roll out

Driver - anything from 240-260 as an average but can get it up to 280-300 during summer with running fairways
3 Wood - 220 -240
3 Hybrid - 200-220
4 iron - 190-180
5 Iron - 170-180
6 Iron - 160-170
7 Iron - 150 -160
8 Iron -140- 150
9 Iron - 125-140
PW - 110 - 125
GW - 100 - 110
SW - 80-100
LW - 60 - 80

This is also a link about average driving distance

9- 125
8- 135
7- 145
6 - 155
5-hybrid 175
4 hybrid 195
5 wood 215
3 wood not sure as I dont hit it well off the ground.
Driver 240

Have been on flightscope and they were all more or less those numbers. Some slightly more.

I think GC2 only sees your ball move for a few inches and calculates a theoretical carry distance.

You need something like track man to actually measure it.

What balls were you using, range balls?

I have no doubt that the young man hits the ball a long way but I would always take these numbers with a pinch of salt. As a cat 1 player he probably knows already how far he hits it on the course.

I know all my iron distances and yes they are taped to my clubs. I also have a 3/4 yardage and 1/2 swing yard marked on 7 iron up. All have been generated via measurement on course and are subject to conditions.
Regarding my driver and fairways, I roughly know, but I play to position not really a distance. So this means conditions will dictate 3 wood or driver etc..

Did mine via my GPS last year into and down wind but needs redoing for the swing changes I've made. I would like to get onto a GC2 and get it done properly and so can see myself booking a session at the local range. I've worked very hard on the wedges (PW, 52, and 58) and full, three quarter, and half swings. I have an average for each club. I just need to put the right swing on it

Think I've got a very good gauge for pitches and wedges up to 100 yds, ok up to 210 and it's a rather vague after that. I've been hitting lots of shots 125 and under for two months and it's helping my game no end.
