How Many Balls in your Bag

Usually around 20, one for every hole and a couple of extra just in case.

Only lost a couple in the last half dozen rounds so my logic isn't working...

'Bout 6 new and same used. Always start with a newie but if playing badly and lose it an oldie comes out.

Three brand new ones and a half dozen selection of found balls.

The new ones are for Saturday comps and the old for when I'm messing around trying stuff I wouldn't usually during a comp, for instance trying to drive the corner off the 6th, over the trees and not being bothered if it ends up lost.

Same here Bri, always like to start a comp or outing with a new good yin and see how it goes.

As for Gareth who says he only carries 3, i'll be honest and say thats just plain daft regardless of how good you are or arent. I rarely lose more than one a round but im prone to the odd knife or generate a bad scuff from a stoney bunker where after it should be changed. I really dont fancy playing more than a few holes on my last ball in a comp.

I have started to leave balls out of my bag as I was carrying to many. I am down to about 10 and don't bother picking up unless they are good quality.

You see - as a kid I couldn't afford to buy golf balls and in any case wasn't bothered about what I played with. We're talking in the days of the Dunlop 65, Penfold Ace, Commando, Slazenger, Price's Everlasting (no actually - even I drew the line on these). So I just rummaged about when playing - and that habit has stuck with me. Every round I'll pick up about half a dozen :)

Ha, the Warwick and the hexagonal dimpled Bridgestone (I think) too, like you I played with pick up's, or rather ones my dog had recovered from deep undergrowth, he used to love hunting golf balls, 50 a night was easy, I sold them to the pro as practise balls, this funded my first set of bladed irons and persimmon woods. Happy days.

I put a dozen in at a time, and refill when I get down to 2 or 3, so usually between 2 and 15 new ones.

There's also usually 3 or 4 old ones, either mine that have played a round or two, or pick ups that are good enough to keep.

That's it - my mates laugh as I'll often be found wandering through the rough rather than up the fairway. Of course I don't need to but for me finding a golf ball is a little visceral thrill I love. I spot one - is it a TopFlite - or is it a nice shiney ProV1? Besides it has made me an expert ball spotter and finder :)

Sounds like slow play to me ;) haha

I do love the joy of finding a semi decent ball on the course!

The hexagonal dimple ball of my day was the Uniroyal Plus6 :) Cool ball.
