'Bout 6 new and same used. Always start with a newie but if playing badly and lose it an oldie comes out.
You see - as a kid I couldn't afford to buy golf balls and in any case wasn't bothered about what I played with. We're talking in the days of the Dunlop 65, Penfold Ace, Commando, Slazenger, Price's Everlasting (no actually - even I drew the line on these). So I just rummaged about when playing - and that habit has stuck with me. Every round I'll pick up about half a dozen![]()
That's it - my mates laugh as I'll often be found wandering through the rough rather than up the fairway. Of course I don't need to but for me finding a golf ball is a little visceral thrill I love. I spot one - is it a TopFlite - or is it a nice shiney ProV1? Besides it has made me an expert ball spotter and finder![]()
Ha, the Warwick and the hexagonal dimpled Bridgestone (I think) too, like you I played with pick up's, or rather ones my dog had recovered from deep undergrowth, he used to love hunting golf balls, 50 a night was easy, I sold them to the pro as practise balls, this funded my first set of bladed irons and persimmon woods. Happy days.
