How long is your course?

I know, it just annoys me that I can hit two good shots and still be nowhere near!

Hit a good drive and a good 3 wood today with wind behind and only just made the green on one!

I go away to courses like Blacknest which is about a thousand yards shorter than mine and end up playing way under handicap.

Are you playing in the Blackmoor Meet ? It is only four miles further on from Blacknest, and is a much better course.

5800 off the whites. Par 67 (no par fives) sss70 course record 61 years ago and never battered.200 entrants for medals and div 1 usually won by a score around par. Being next to the sea when the wind blows winning score can be 3 over. Longest par 4 is 441, par 3 201.

6900 is a long course for club golfers and at that length I would expect there to be par 4's that most players can't reach in 2, especially in March. As said above, you get plenty of strokes and possibly a couple on the longer 4's. I wouldn't worry about reaching them in 2.

Ours is 6366 from the whites with 3 par 4's over 450 yards. 2 of these are out of reach for me between September and May and even in Summer I often don't even try to go for the greens which are narrow with trouble left and right. Been caught out too often. Why risk a 6 or 7? A lay up and a good pitch gives me a chance of a 4 otherwise I take the 5 and move on. It's what my handicap is for.

Our is 6850 or so off the Blacks and about 6480 off the normal white tees - the yellows are 6250 - ladies under 5500, which seems too short!! Longest par 4 is 472 slight dogleg left uphill for the last 200 yards - we don't play it in the winer off the back.

My own club is 6920 yards from the white tees (6482 yellows) with 3 Par 5's over 550 yards.
The course is always windy and at this time of year is a hard challenge.
Of course difficulty is not all about length. have played at Aldeburgh in Suffolk a few times. (6603 whites/6378 Yellow.) However the course has no Par 5's and 8 holes over 400 yards. The Par is 68!!
The wind always seems to be strong here as it is near the sea. The card also has a bogey score of 72 which is perhaps a more realistic figure to rate your score against.

6294 off the whites. Longest par 3 is the 229 yard first. Longest par 4 is the 430 yard 14th and the longest par 5 is the 535 yard second. Some of the courses on here sound brutal and make mine look a breeze

6472

longest par 3 185

par 4 435

par 5 507

all in meters and when the wind blows it is a shagging nightmare

6736 yards from the whites.

475 yard 11th is si1, big dog leg right, it is tough to reach in 2, it is do-able, but requires a great drive and great 2nd.

They are putting in 2 new tee boxes, on the 7th and 10th which will be very interesting, think the 10th is meant for top amatuer comps, b&d matches and euro pro.

some beasts on here ( the courses, not posters!)

My gaff is 6031 off the whites

218 longest par 3
411 longest par 4
554 longest par 5

6308 from the Whites
5930 from the Yellows

Plays ALOT longer than that though with the wind you get up there.

Longest Par 5 is 504 yards
Longest Par 4 is 415 yards
Longest Par 3 is a paltry 157 yards

(all from the yellows)

From the whites..

- 6,492
- 525 longest par 5
- 452 longest par 4
- 207 longest par 3

From the yellows...

- 6,159
- 502 par 5
- 419 par 4
- 189 par 3

Ours is 6662 yards off the whites, par 72, SSS 72.

Three or four short par 4s plus one at 478 yards.

All par 5s are over 500 yards, the longest at 582 yards is the first hole.
