You swearing in, no initiation (apart from 20 minutes in the equipment cupboard with Mike) and no salary except for an ocassional small piece of kit a couple of times a year. I'm doing it for the love!!

Homer many congrats pal that's really awsome. Very fitting for you to get the role, we'd have all gone mad if you didn't get something sooner rather than later :D

Very excited about the new pages, this place/ mag keeps going from strength to strength, guys/ gals at the towers well done also and thankyou.

dear all

just to say if anyone is in the area (GM Towers is in London nr Waterloo) on business or pleasure and fancies coming in to the office to say hello, meet the team and have a look in the equipment cupboard then you're most welcome. Drop me a line.

Heck, I'll even make you a cuppa while you're in!

looks like my son will be receiving more frequent visits (works near Euston).

as murph, it looks like I could be appearing twice - just can't wear the same thing on both occasions!

Very kind of you Mike.

Couple of weeks ago I was thinking how good/possible it would be for the forum members to visit the Towers and see what the deal is.

Kind of like one of the 'bring ya son to work' days only in our case it would be, bring ya whole adopted brotherhood to work day. :D

Homer many congratulations it is well deserved as you have time and again posted with real quality on here and you are undoubtedly one of the most active members. From other things I have read of yours you also write very well and have a good editorial knowledge so I am sure you will be great in the new role. How much work will it actually involve out of interest? I take it you won't be cutting down your work hours etc...

Anyway nice addition to the mag GM and congratulations Homer.

Sadly the offer of a full time role on the staff failed to materialise so I'll have to make do with my pretty young nurses at the Royal Berks. Thanks for the kind words.

Its quite involved at the moment as I'm trying to recruit forum members to the meet the forum section, writing the review piece and getting the out and about/arrange a game section organised as well as pulling together the Royal Ascot day out. The one that will really take the time is the what we're talking about" section as I want to make it as topical to the discussions taking place on the main forum as deadlines allow. It will be hard tracking hot topics (I think GPS will feature even if we don't have anymore posts from the recent threads) and finding the right soundbites from members comments to make the piece hang together and read well.

Once I have got the templates finalised to send to those wishing to be featured in the meet section it will be a case of getting e-mail details, sending it our for completion and an accompanying picture. There is only limited word space so jobs a good un

I can't complain though as I'm homoured to have been picked and it will be a labour of love. There is the incentive of a golfing related goodie at some point as reward (did someone say R9 driver or guest writer in Augusta?)

Have to be honest and say the laptop may be plugged in but the owner has gone AWOL!! I'd love to savour the atmosphere but not going to happen so back to making the forum pages as good as I can instead!

Just like to echo everyones statements and say well done Homer on a well deserved appointment.

I'd also like to further Eaglehunter's sentiments by saying that I feel that you give the most eloquent and well constructed posts out of all of us.

Best of luck mate and enjoy.
