If you are after something with a bit (well. loads) of clout, then Dead Arm Shiraz would certainly qualify - and at £24 in Morrisons, is in budget!
A little cheaper - try Majestic's extremely pleasant Definition Cotes du Rhone or (the 'best' Red in the Definition series imo) the Malbec - also my favourite Malbec. The Reserva Rioja appeals (greatly) to some - but, unfortunately, not me!
