Even point 1 here has potential rules issues! If he thinks hes in water he cannot play a provisional only if it's OOB!

Enjoy the learning curve of matchplay it's a great format.

The water is just beyond the OOB post and there is a some knee high grass in front of the water edge. See pic below. I have numbered the shots to give you the idea.

Quite a expensive day out but it's a great chance to play some top courses and as qualifiers.
I did Birkdale last year, been going few years now, quite well organised and worth a look.
Schedule is published just before xmas and you can sign up to get email reminder.

Just been all through some of the results for the UK courses and looked at the range of handicaps, its nice to see a wide spread entering. How does it work as Sunningdale is being discussed as an 18 maximum so would that restriction still hold when entering through this Tour?

There's no mention of restriction on the website when entering, as they have 2 days at Sunningdale every year I cannot see the club refusing anyone in there comp entry.

Result Update #1
Havent been able to speak to them yet. Have left vmail & emails. Guess they are out and about.

However, they mailed me yesterday to say that they had DQed my opponent after speaking to him and his club. So have given the match to me. I am waiting to speak to them about my situation. So wait and watch for Result Update #2

You don't have a situation?

Have you checked the draw sheet too see if it's been updated?

Yup, draw sheet updated!!! and a home draw too!!

Make sure that both your hcps are up to date. HCP certificate or show your hcp to him on club hcp list and confirm that you have not played any Q comps since it was last updated.
Then the onus is on your opponent to confirm the same.
Use HDID is necessary.

And make sure you have a rule book with you for any other little things that may crop up.

I've got the R&A Rules as an app on my phone, really quick search facility which I like better than the book.

Good luck going forward

The Nike guys and I keep playing telephone tags.. so I think i will give up trying to get a clarification on my position and proceed to the next round.

Just a question on self harming the handicap.
1) If I play better than my HC in an Open Matchplay e.g. Nike. Do I need to cut my HC?
2) Is this rule only applicable to qualifying stroke play & stableford (both home and away) only or do they apply to Matchplay too?
