Green side chips

As a high handicapper I have tried to get this down to a couple of 'base' shots.
9 iron from just off the green, hole them for fun on the practice green;) Still not managed it in serious play.
Then use my 58* wedge if I need to carry bunker or thick rough etc.

Its all about practice that one. Now I am a member I should get a lot more practice and hopefully see the results in the HC coming down.

My approach is the same as the previous post and its the way I was taught and the way I practice.

3 base shots:
7 iron just off the green, 25% up and 75% roll
9 iron further away, 50% up and 50% roll
sand iron over obstacles, 75% up and 25% roll

Practice from different spots, to a different target as soon as one lands in 'safe' putting distance

When going downhill I loft up, when going uphill I loft down, otherwise I use as little loft as the lie will allow.

Everything around the green I use my PW as (dependant on the speed of the greens) it's 50/50 flight/roll for me. If I don't like where that puts the landing spot I'll use whatever loft I think puts me a few feet past the spot I don't like. I never use anything less lofted than my PW.

I will use a putter if possible, if not then I will use my 48PW for consistency. And if I'm having a shocker the 64LW might come out for a bit of fun :)

I used to chip with a 58' until my pro told me that I should only use it if there is no other option, and there is apparently always another option. He actually told me that if he sees me chipping with a 58' wedge again he'll snap it in half.
