Three over front nine yesterday, followed by 5 points in 5 holes and didn't make another par until the 17th & 18th. End up 12 over and one shot above getting a cut. How does the good golf just leave us so suddenly??

Look at it from the pov of you now having a good backup score in your 20 for when one of your 8 falls off the bottom and your score on the day is no use.

After playing in a few opens on links courses this year, I've finally discovered how to play links in the wind. Don't.

First ever chip shot I was taught and still use it so often! I do the same thing with all clubs from 7-PW.

If it is a long chip from just-off to an up-sloping green, I will often use my 24° 4-iron with something similar to a putting stroke.

Played in my first medal in a couple of years at Oakdale on Saturday. There are a number of pretty steep greens and the 11th was a bugger. I actually birdied it and the guy I played with parred it, but the average score was evidently 7. You literally could putt the ball up to the hole and if it didn't go in it likely rolled back 10 feet. I made my putt but wondered what would have happened if I had missed....so I put the ball next to the hole and just nudged it with my finger sideways....yep, 10 feet down the hill. The whole green is tough....but there are some places that are just unfair to put a hole.

If you drive with a driver and putt with a putter, then it would make sense that you iron with an ironer and hybrid with a hybrider.
And how about wooding with a wooder?

One of the roads leading to the road the Club is on will be closed
I don't anticipate any disruption at the Club but it's the day my Society is playing there and many of them would use this road..
There may also be security checkpoints to go through....
A right non-royal pain in the posterior....

Ignore the shot - I'm posting this to show the state of our bunkers - most are like this. Clearly any drainage systems have completely failed. We've had no rain all summer. A few hours of heavy rain on Sunday, then a little bit yesterday, and this is what we've got all round the course. I've always felt like our membership fees have been fair, but, these bunkers will be pretty much out of play now until May, if we have anything like the usual amount of rainfall.

Why did you even hit from there? I'd be calling that ground under repair.
